Cars looking good. Another trick to pounding out dents without making more dents is tape the head of the hammer or use a dead blow that is rubber coated. I learned the tape trick from a painless dent guy we have come to our shop. I use 4 or 5 layers of masking tape works pretty good or duct tape works good to but I never have any when I need it lol
I think the four bar and torsion bar set up is a excellent choice for the front, proven over many years to work great! Merry Christmas racer x, and happy new year.
Thanks mike and merry christmas to you to. We found a guy that makes torsion bars. We will mock up everything then put it on the scales. Then the torsion bar and rear springs will be ordered. Being a nonfendered street strip car the front end gets busy. I will have head lights and directional. Im thinking adding coil overs to the mix would make it look ugly. Merry christmas to everyone reading this post.
Havr you considered something like these? Most look way to late model for me, but these from Speedway don't look too bad. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I have seen those lights with the directional in them. I may use the original 31head lights. They are very cool. I had 50s era mack truck lights on it when it crashed.
Miss a week or two of this thread and it's like you've been away for months. The amount of work getting accomplished is amazing!
Thanks it is going at a good pace. Its crazy trying to keep track of every thing. Im selling a bunch of parts. Ordering a bunch of parts. Working on the car. And trying to plan ahead so this project wont stall due to some unforseen problem. Its almost a full time job. But im ok with that. I work best under pressure. The hamb is only seeing a small percent of what it takes to build a car like this. This weekend im planning on going to cedar falls iowa to work on the engine. Another one of my good friends will be introduced. He also comes with a pedegree a mile long. Not only did he invent the b-1 heads that koffel sells it was his heads on the dodge boys engines that won three pro stock titles. Thanks for everyones interest.
o.k. fucker, now I feel like I should crush my car,and start over !! LOL AWESOME !! How on earth do you find any time to post stuff ?? you must be super man !!
thats just how i do things. i dont do a lot of things but when i start something i go all out. steve hows the plans coming for participating in drag week. i told you i was going to stay on you. i gave you a triple dog dare. there is no getting out of that. mike how about you? its going to be closer to you than in the past.
the rules on the trailer are 4x8 max. there is a hight limit but I forgot what it is. I use a aluminium 4x8 trailer that I have modified to suit my needs. there is a cradle I built onto the front to hold the slicks. I have a tool box and vice mounted in the back. I added a rail going all the way around to keep things from falling out. all of the things I bring go into labled plastic totes. this keeps them organized and dry. I bring battery operated tools. a 1/2 inch elect impact is always handy for tire changes. a plug in 12 volt air compressor is nice to have. I bring a 12x12 instant pop up canopy; alum jack; car stands; paper towel; a gallon of water; spare oil and drain pan; a case of brake clean; a electrical kit with tester; full set of gaskets. think of the things that could save your ass out in the middle of nowhere at 2am. on a dark deserted road. just don't over do it.
Thanks for the Info. The hight limit I am not to worried about, as long as the thing is lower then the coupe I should be fine. Right? Saw some guys using those little U-HAUL trailers last time.
well... yeah after the triple dog dare, I have to go, and Cheryl is all excited about going too ! first year, I'll bring the model A truck, nobody will even see my coupe after you roll yours out !! yeah, thinking about driving my coupe into the river !! LOL keep up the awesome work !! you're THE MAN !!!
I tried the U-Haul. the problem with it is everything I needed was always in the front of the trailer. I spent more time unloading then reloading just to get what I wanted. the uhaul always needs to be connected to the car whenever you go in it or it flips up in the air. my trailer is setup so everything can be seen and reached from either side. just take the stuff you would normally bring with you on a track day. throw in some basic spare parts you may need. there is some strategy to surviving drag week. one thing is to make your pass as early as possible. that way you can get on the road quickly. this plays into your favor because parts stores will be open and you are travelling in the daylight. changing rocker shafts by cell phone light is no fun in the dark. ask me how I know. speaking of light bring some flash lights also. to hook up my trailer I use a normal receiver. it will take the hitch or the mount for my parachute. just by pulling a pin I can go back and forth.
which race....Drag Week? http://www.hotrod.com/events/drag-week-2016-track-locations-and-dates-announced/ .
I have to say it was cool to see the drive train in the chassis today. Due to a nasty snow storm there has been a delay getting the body to the shop. I grabbed the head off the engine for this weekends trip to iowa. If everything goes as planned i will be coming home with a drum of nitro.
I thought today i would locate and dust off a few things i havent used in a while. For some reason i cant find the hydrometer. It will turn up eventually. Talking about drums of nitro can really get a guy fired up.
racer-x the theme is evolving quick here the Beauty and the Beauty...you are quite the craftsman. Thank You and Happy New Year
My drag week trailer. Nothing fancy. A well organized setup is all you need. I put the tires outside the trailer freeing up space inside. There are guys on drag week with more money in the trailer than some guys cars. Remenber keep it simple you dont race the trailer. Squirel won his class and didnt even pull a trailer.
