Haha! That ten-piece hammer comment made my day!
A lot of what's posted here is way over my head, but it's still one of my favorite threads on the HAMB. Great stuff. Thanks all!

  2. I try to post things that might be interesting. Most on the hamb would never have a use for the info on their cars. It does provide a different look at our car hobby.

Brian, I don't necessarily have a use for the info you post but I find it to be extremely interesting what you have accomplished with your car and look forward to your continuing progress. Please keep posting away!

  4. While I also have no use for this very interesting info, it's refreshing and definitely better than constant threads about "Why don't I have brakes?", " Why don't I have spark?", "Patina which is actually just rust because all of the paint is gone".

Brian, I look forward to every update you make on this car, it has come a long way since the first iteration. People might think they can't apply some of this technology to their car but I bet if they put one half the thought (and energy) into it that you do they might see different.
I'm sure the OT S-10 frame swap type crowd would probably walk right past your car but I think you have a good following here on the HAMB.
I tried my hand at bracket racing in the late 70's, limited budget but did start with a tube chassis car, it was a former P/S turned altered turned bracket racer.
Realized I was in over my head and bailed and went shifterkart racing, much more fun.

  6. Thanks everyone for following along and for the nice comments.
I plan on turning things up next weekend. I can't wait.

Seems like for the track set-up installing the solid struts and tuning your gear ratio and converter slip around them may yield a path to follow. Data acquisition (if not already used) might reveal even more.

Keep posting. This thread is far more interesting and far beyond much of the nonsense posted in other threads.

What I find so interesting and why I read this thread when it’s updated, is the explanations that come along with what’s being done, not just a show and tell, but a “why” as well.
Brian is definitely one guy who is “living the dream”.

  9. I try to make it easy to follow along.
Iam living the dream. I was always playing with hot wheels as a kid. My favorites were always coupes. I dreamed of having a cool coupe of my own some day. I held onto that dream for many years. Some how after I got the body this project got way out of control. I'm OK with it.

I called Brian tonight, they got rained out at the Fallout Drags today. He was 2 cars away from a pass when the rain started.
It sounded like the revelry must have started shortly after. :)

The forecast is looking good for tomorrow, good luck Racer-X!

  15. Rained out and no cell service. Getting some breakfast now. Weather looks perfect today.
The peach shine is really good.

Saw this beast run for the first time today at the fall-out drags. All I could say is "wow" and "thats loud". Ive seen it at a show up in the MN State Fairgrounds and always wanted to see it run. After seeing it today I just had to see if there was a thread on here and scrolled through the whole thing. What an amazing car.

Good to hear that he got a pass in. I hope the changes helped.

  21. The two passes I watched on the live feed looked like traction was a problem.

  22. 20220917_183955.jpg Traction was a big problem. It rained out Friday then again Saturday morning. Track prep was minimal. Several cars broke putting fluids on the track. There was so much rice ash on the track it was coming into the car on passes. It was like riding in a snow globe. The car had way too much power for the track.
First pass I left in first as planned. It's still violent.
Second pass leaving in 2nd gear was better.
Third pass I left in high gear. Bad 60 foot. This is not the answer. We never got time to put the struts in.
The engine is running perfect with huge power.
The car is still hitting the tires too hard. Next up is a four bar change. The instant center is at 99 percent anti squat. It will be moved to 148 percent. That will help with the tires getting smashed into the track. It's a big balancing act.
We were asked to participate in the cackle show. I took them up on it. I always wanted to hear the car on 90 plus percent so that's what I put in the tank. I also put 50 degrees in the mag. The flame show was cool. When I hit the gas it sounded awesome. The noise was deafening.

  23. Here is a picture of the floor in my car. This is after sweeping it once before. That's alot of crap from the track surface. 20220917_180453.jpg

  24. Dave from Canada (dare to do something different) brought me a case of kokanee beer. We do a beer swap each time we meet up. It's been going on for a few years. I gave him a case of New Glarus Spotted Cow. His beer is only found in canada my beer is only found in Wisconsin. I also shared a jar of peach shine with his group. 20220917_202243.jpg

Looks like a good time. I have been silently following this thread last couple years and love it. Most content is above my head and not relatable to much I'll ever build but cool seeing your thought processes, building and what goes into a car like this, well I guess there isn't another car like this which makes it cooler.

  26. Thanks for following along. I try to make it interesting. Maybe some day soon the car will go back to Bakersfield for the March meet.

    Hey, Brian;
I may have mentioned this before, probably to you when we met @ Btt50s, but this is the very best, & most interesting, thread on the HAMB, bar none! Even though I also probably won't ever be able to use the info you are layin' down, I like learning. You teach well + pics; what has happened & why, what is happening & why, what will happen & why. Makes it easier to follow along & learn, it's the perfect way to teach/learn. [Part of my educational background was teaching - Industrial Tech].

After hearing you run the car @ Btt50's 2 yrs ago, the vids that I did, turned out really lousy. & I can't fix them. May have a clue on what I did wrong, but the recorded sound of the FuelHemi just went away and was so quiet that the ph picked up people talking. Damnedest thing, & I really wanted that sound recorded. No idea how to fix that - was told later it was the camera "protecting" itself. At least I got the physical sound/waves + fumes effects. So, this year, got to listen to the nostalgia Funny, he was Cackling 95%. I knew better than to try to record it, or listen w/o hearing protection, but I happily got my hair raised when ever he hit the throttle(later found out only to ~ 5 grand, instead of the ~ 9500 redline[iirc?]). Lowered the air pressure under n past the headers that dirt would lift-off ~ 4' into the air. :D . Damn that was good. :D . Got to talk to the very nice owner, but can't remember his name, although he has a shop in the South Cities. Also found out I can't be around Nitro very much, due to its' intoxicating addictive qualities. Took awhile, but eventually the memories kicked in(from the smells) & I was taken back 55+ yrs to when I used do Flying Model airplanes using Nitro Fuels. :D . Mmmmmmm, sigh... :D . Got me to wondering what Hydrazine effect(s) are... If you ever go for the GreenFlames[another 1st for DragWeek? Lol.], let me know; I'm just crazy enough to help.

Also to let you know; you two have cured me of liking or being impressed w/loud engine noise(s). Still like the rump-rump effects &/or a mill winding out, but since either one of your engines were putting out more power from ** 1 ** cyl than almost everyone elses' 8 - even blown, well that was seriously impressive.

    Thanks again.
    Marcus...

  28. I almost forgot to mention my name was drawn for one of the 500 dollar cash prizes. Then a guy I have known for years said he likes my car so much he is going to buy my next drum of nitro. He knows the cost. He just wants to feel like a part of all of this. Maybe my luck is starting to change for the better. Jefferson swap this weekend. Next week as long as it's not snowing union Grove for another shot.
