  1. Thank you Brian. Great, interesting, informative content as always.

  2. The nitro tech tonight is used on most modern blown alcohol and nitro cars. Fast nitrous cars and turbo cars also use a version of this technology.
The msd grid is a timing retarder. It pulls timing anywhere in the run that it's needed. Too much power at the hit like in my case pull some timing. If the track is slick pull some timing. A bump in the track 300 feet out upsetting the car pull some timing. It has many uses. The way I'm going to set up mine is to take ten degrees away just after the hit. The tire needs to plant. Timing will be ramped up to 45 degrees total over 1.75 seconds. I should be about 100 feet out. This is how the fast cars have made such big gains lately. The nitro 44 Amp version is twice the price of the other models. I included a few pages of the instructions. A special shielded cable for the crank trigger must be used along with a noise 20230605_194952.jpg 20230605_195004.jpg 20230605_195033.jpg 20230605_195019.jpg 20230605_201940.jpg 20230605_201942.jpg 20230605_202033.jpg 20230605_202111.jpg canceling capacitor.

  3. The grid stores the run. It can be down loaded onto a lap top. After viewing changes can be made. It has a wide open switch that's triggered by the gas pedal. That's what starts the timing curve.

  8. Update. The weather did not cooperate. It looked like two rounds of rain were headed toward Kaukauna. The track owner said stay home. They might re schedule it later in the summer. Cars did go down the track. It wasn't a complete rain out. Next stop Union Grove for the Out of Site Drags.

  10. I was following the weather all day Friday. On Saturday morning things looked worse. I called the track owner asking if I should still come. He said to stay home because it was most likely a rain out. We will try again in two weeks at the Out of Site drags.

  11. After the tragic accident at Milan last weekend I'm putting my blower screen back on. This screen will help keep things from going down the blower. It goes between the blower and injector. 20230612_195007.jpg

Good move, any of the costumer blown engines I have built had them, and one will be going on mine.

I’ve always ran one for fear of somehow something would get in there and tear up my expensive blower not to mention the engine never thought about it creating a major “vacuum” leak as it did at Milan that was a bad deal and feel for everyone involved

  14. I don't blame you for not coming out. The forcast was for rain all afternoon, and you have a whole lot more at stake. We just got lucky the rain held off.

  15. When a tragedy happens looking for something positive to come from it helps with the healing process. This issue of having a screen is a hot topic right now on many racing sites. Many responded saying tgey will add one. Hopefully keith loosing his life will have a positive impact on racing with a rule change mandating a screen. I will be at the funeral Sunday supporting the family. If I can drive sixteen hours for a match race I can certainly drive six hours for close friends.

  16. Check this out. We will be there tomorrow. Look this event up. They have never had nitro at this event before. Running on a no prep air strip should be fun. FB_IMG_1688770030793.jpg

  17. The same guys that do the race of gentlemen put this on.

  18. I have not been on here much lately. I have been very busy. Check out the thread we lost a crew chief recently.

  19. IMG_20230710_202636.jpg Over the weekend I went to Sanford Field Dragway in Hillsborro Wisconsin. It's about 40 miles west from WI Dells. It's a abandon airstrip in the middle of town. The local car club got permission five years ago to hold races there. It's a zero prep track. We just did a full length burnout out of safety. This is a hard core vintage race. The announcers setup was brought in on a trailer. Vintage flathead all hopped up were the feature. Vintage bikes were also on the property. It's hard to explain how cool it was. I posted a separate thread

  20. 20230710_201021.jpg 20230710_174158.jpg This was fun in the 90 degree heat but we got it done with no incidents. I finally got a Bridgeport mill. It also came with a commercial grade sandblaster. Some tooling came with the mill more is on the way. I'm lucky to have a neighbor with a forklift.

  22. The sandblaster got thrown into the deal. The machine shop is moving and didn't want to take it to the new location. The mill is 15 years old but has only been used a few times in the last five years. The sand blaster works great. I gave my old mill away to a friend.

  23. The car was converted back to a street car for some car show fun. The nitro was left in the tank just in case anyone wants to get cute.

  26. 20230713_192123.jpg My machinist friend dropped off a few end mills as a shop warming gift for the mill. This should last me a lifetime.

Put in the tail stock maybe.

  30. It goes in the mill turning it into a precision drill press. The other piece is a boring head.
