  5. The coupe gets new dancing shoes. Tires should be bought in pairs with matching circumferences.
The fastest way to destroy them is doing long smokey burnouts. While they look cool they will ruin tires in no time. When the oil is burned out of the tires they are junk. They dry out and get hard. It will be noticeable. They will also start smoking less on a burnout. A sign of too big of a burnout is when the sidewall turns brown. The tire is getting too hot. 20240719_184951.jpg 20240719_184956.jpg

  6. I check the circumferences after they are mounted. If one is larger than the other it will steer the car toward the smaller side.
To correct that the tire is over inflated and put in the sun. The tire is stretch to match the larger one. It takes time and patience to correct a miss matched set.
Regular maintenance should include a tire measurement.

    How did the testing go

  13. It went great. The new four link setting is perfect. The car flew right past the 330 without spinning the tires. The shock setting is close. On the second pass I loosened the shocks three clicks. This didn't work. This resulted in too much wheel speed.
The fastest you will ever go is with the tire spinning a revolution or two at the hit. You might ask why? Won't spinning make you go slower? Not really. A slight spin keeps the rpms up. Sticking the tires brings the rpm down out of the ideal power range. I called up a friend to shoot pics and video. He has great equipment. Slow speed video is the only way to go.
Unfortunately the coil or points box went bad causing a loss of power on the top end. The parts have been replaced. We are ready for the lannon car show Saturday. 8 nitro cars firing up. I'm trying to post videos.

  14. First hit.
    Tires hit
    Body drops two inches
    Tires spin
Tires wrinkle but don't wad up
    Weight is transfered
Body is level without bouncing by the tree.
    Just about perfect.
After a few more passes on the tires and it will be.

  15. Three clicks softer on the shocks resulted in too much wheel speed.
To get this perfect the data logger will have shock and driveshaft sensors. Things happen so fast the eye can't see what's going on. These slow motion videos can get you close. There's alot to look at here if you know what to look for.

In that 2nd run, right rear wadded up bit more & started to shake bit more then left. Appears to me anyway…. U the expert

  20. It's fighting for traction. We dropped the rite pressure from 12.75 to 10.0. I had it higher for years because the car ran good at 12.75. With the new setup we had to try it. The car is set up now to not smash the rim into the track. Now the pressure can be lowered. The video was watched at the track after the first pass. I wanted to try loosening the shocks three clicks. This will result in more wheel speed. The slicks had one pass on them now and I wanted to get more aggressive. It didn't work because the the tires spun more just as we figured. The shocks are back to were they were. All part of the sorting out procedure.

Looks great the first pass was definitely better but without trying the second pass you wouldn’t have known the difference glad you are goin in the right direction

On the second pass, something moves from mid-left of the view to lower right. Can't make out what it is... leaf? lizard? If it's a lizard, I better the critter is deaf :)

I think it was a mouse or vole. Not too many lizards up north, but lots of messes!
