rebuilding after the crash

Discussion in 'Off Topic Hot Rods & Customs' started by racer-x, Sep 19, 2015.

  1. Back in the early 70’s I took metal shop in the 8th grade. The only way to turn on the drill press was with the handle of the drill chuck key, you had to use the small end of the key to press a button inside a hole the key fit into! Kept small boys from getting a key imprint on their foreheads!

  3. Patrick Hampton is having a car show. It won't be like a normal show. It should have some very wild cars there. I want to support the event so I'm making the haul. Don't miss it.
Bad weather for this weekend. No racing. Maybe next weekend. We just can't catch a break.

Thanks. For anyone in the area that sure looks to be a "don't-wanna-miss" event. Would love to be there but a bit out of my radius of operations at this time...
And in the big picture, Easter weekend is not a bad time to be off. Enjoy some family time and relax.

  5. This can only mean one thing. It's going to be 60 degrees and no rain. Let the testing begin. Sunday Sunday Sunday at Union Grove Wisconsin. PXL_20250422_193548411.MP.jpg

Yes, how about a 60’ comparison, much improvement with the new modifications and slicks?

Well sounds like he was testing good and the chaos events he is running are only 1/8 mile passes anyway so no reason to run it out the back door yet especially if he has made a gear change to run those events and I’m can’t remember where he was has done as my memory has been compromised since my accident in January was hoping to be able to make it to Texas but things have changed and I am not going to be able to make it so I can’t wait to see how he does good luck to you Brian I’ll be cheering from afar

  17. Yes. I am unsure when they were installed, but it was before the '23 season.

LOL!!! That had me scratching my head too! That just means it's been too damn long since we've been there!

  19. The new bleachers put you right in the action. Kind of like Rockingham but better.
Leaving Wednesday morning for a fifteen hour drive. We are ready.

  20. Jerry's video is from a great spot. It looks like the rear suspension took a few hops as it was leaving.

  22. We made it to Texas. We had some high winds and strong rain on the way down. One of my crew men can't make it no to illness. We will have to do this with three men.
The car did bounce a little. The shocks are too stiff. It's the tire causing the bounce. I softened the compression on them. It still did a 1.13 sixty foot. PXL_20250501_185042875.jpg PXL_20250501_182253077.jpg PXL_20250501_182239117.jpg PXL_20250501_185038410.jpg

  23. Wind and rain going on for the next few hours. q-1 cancelled. We will try to get a hit in tonight. The car is back in the trailer. The straps are on the awning to prevent damage. PXL_20250502_194144329.jpg

  24. - Brian will have a full recap after he gets home and is able to decompress...

Brian was finally able to make a qualifying pass on Saturday between rain delays. At the hit, it popped out of gear and damaged the reversor. He pulled it back into gear and kept going, but it was too late. That resulted in a 13.608 @ 154.75 time slip. That put him in the #21 spot of a 16 car field (1-8 A Field, 9-16 B Field), and he did not make the show.

  25. Brian was able to make a test hit as filler after eliminations had been completed. The results were in line with was Brian was hoping for as this combination progresses.

    1.15 60 foot
    3.05 330
    4.59 et
    160 mph

If qualifying would not have been rain delayed down to a single run, that pass would have gotten Brian into the B Field.
