I do not know Brians Car program only what I read ,
4K , more likely covers Round trip to & from Race , Wear & tear of event
I would think Broke even , But I feel still
Not enough to cover Total expense for
    A 3 day ,
    4 Q
    & possibly 4 rounds ,
    1 gallon Nitro $60ish
    Drum 50 gal $2,800 -3,200
Oil $80 gal per 1 ga
    Spark plugs about $8 each
    No breakage, Rare !

Not including tires and other wear on items /parts .

If it was easy, everyone would do it! I'm just happy that guys like Brian keep pounding away.

  5. We run the show by doing it on the cheap. There are a lot of ways to save money on the road.
The biggest saver is not needing hotels. My trailer has a shower and ac. We blow up air mattresses for the crew. I sleep up front.
Next saver is food. We don't eat out every meal. Only when the rig is moving do we eat out. We arrived at the track to set up. When that's done we go grocery shopping. I have a nesco; toaster; pizza oven; microwave and refrigerator. We eat good.
We run a combination that doesn't eat spark plugs. We don't have to change bearings every pass. We don't take out pistons. The tune up is mild to avoid those costly things. T- shirt sales provide money for diesel fuel or food.
While expensive for a first time purchase I buy the best quality parts I can get so I don't have to buy them twice. I own special tools to service the car. Staying up on the maintenance goes a long way on saving money. The check won't find the whole program. I have gotten checks for each event I have gone to. The total plus match racing money allows us to stay a float and still put a little away for any future investments like a block or crank. Parts and safety gear all have a life span. In the off season I need another new helmet. Mine is good until the end of 2025. If I don't have the cash available then I pick up overtime at the hospital to fill the gaps.

Trust me these guys eat very good I know I was able to dine with them at the track both days and Brian has a very good routine of maintenance after every pass that alone save a bunch of broken parts there’s nothing cheap in doing this but his initial investment of top notch stuff helps a lot I had an old nitro racer tell me once “the best parts are just good enough” meaning there’s no reason for broken parts if you buy the best also if you talk amongst other racers most of them will tell you the same thing Brian’s car has a mild tune compared to the others but it’s safe and just doesn’t give issues if he was running on the ragged edge there would be all kinds of broken things those who run on the edge have a lot more cost per season

  7. I'm taking a day off. German fest is going on this weekend at the lakefront Summer fest grounds. It's a big deal. Good food; music and fun. We get into this as s family.

  12. The interview went great. Always fun.
Randy Jackson sent me several news papers from the Jopplin area. They had my car on the front page of the sports section. Thanks Randy PXL_20250731_013432828.jpg

Hey Brian, good to finally meet you and see the coupe in Eddyville this past weekend. The thing is an animal. When you get it sorted out and with a little luck, it will be even better.

So how did it go in Eddyville?

  21. Not good. It was very hot. The heat index was 110. The water grains were 162. That's really bad air. On the warm up the engine lost oil pressure. The button gear with the shaft broke. We missed Q1 and Q2. I found a guy that had a pump. I drove three hours round trip to get it. I got back to the track at 12:30 am. I got the pump back on and checked for oil pressure. It was good. I got up early to get everything ready to run. On Q-3 it jumped out of gear. We were 17 qualified. I told my crew we need to service the car in the event a car broke and they wanted us to fill in. That's exactly what happened. Unfortunately in E-1 it jumped out of gear again. I got home and pulled the entire reverser. It was shipped back to lenco. It will be interesting to see what they find. I'm out of ideas.
Racing luck was on our side. If the oil pump shaft broke on the run and not on the car stands the engine would have been destroyed. PXL_20250815_233514775.jpg PXL_20250815_233522900.jpg PXL_20250815_235034363.jpg PXL_20250818_233212656.jpg

  23. Made in Jonesville Michigan. Who knows what caused it. I sent it all back. Steve will figure it out. I will have a spare pump soon.

Friend metaligical ( sp - metal ) engineer explained years ago melded steel with no care of spec ordered. Now stop melt as soon as hit spec ( save $ )- which measured in one spot so some steel really not up to spec temp.

  25. The new shaft will have the hex EDM ed. It will no longer have a hole all the way through. The strength will increased big time.
The report from lenco. The angle from the shifter to the trans is off. A new lever for the trans is being made. It will correct the geometry. The detents will be cut deeper so it can't come out of gear. We will be ready for Nitro Chaos in Havana Illinois the first weekend in October.

Sweet, it's good to find the root cause and fix that instead of just symptoms and be unsure. With these puppys its not always that clear. Go Brian go.

  27. All the parts are back on the car. It was fired up today. 200 plus pounds of oil pressure on the start up. The transmission shifts very smooth. The timing was set. It's ready for more nitro chaos

  29. I'm usually too busy for car shows. I was asked by a family friend to bring the car to a benefit show. I had time and the car is ready so I went. I fired it up at noon for the crowd. All went well. Turns out I won best of show.

  30. Loaded up and ready for the finals in the nitro chaos series. Its in mid state Dragway Havanna Illinois. We are still in the top ten. We are hoping to move up a spot or two. The trans shouldn't give up trouble after coming back from lenco. The data logger is working now so we plan on "tuning it up". It will be a all out effort.
