  3. The speedo is a gps auto meter. There is a box with a button on it that needs to be held down for three seconds to calibrate it. I had my hands full so i just left it until i got home.

Love the sound of the Lenco/Bruno downshifting--don't hear that too often on a street ride.

Is that what the sound was that sounded like air brakes?

  8. yes pulling back on the buttons that are on the steering wheel releases the co2. that down shifts the car. I think it sounds cool. the air brake on the Bruno is even louder. finnish fireball I hope to be able to dial in the suspension without having to move the ic. this would save a lot of time on drag week with one less thing to do. the goal with the street setup is to be able to go low nines. on nitro sevens. we are getting close on both.

  13. I have been busy with my focus on street driving the car. I have been playing around with restrictors that replace the thermostat. we have also added some sheet aluminum to the trunk area that forces the hot air out of the louvers. it seems to be working as we have lost some temp. jim also finished the door panels and some other interior pieces. he says after the season is done to remove the drivetrain and he will finish it up. there are areas that cant be reached with everything in place. I also got a seat belt on the passenger side to be legal on the street. the car will be loaded up tonight for the good guys event in Kentucky this weekend. we changed upper pullies on the blower. we sped it up like the way it was last year. this should make it a lot more fun. stay tuned in.

Sounds like you are getting it lined out I was wondering how the cooling system was working on the street I had no doubt it would work for the strip but was very interested in knowing how it worked for a good long drive

  15. How is the car titled that you need a passenger seat belt to be legal in Wisconsin. Last I checked they can only enforce what safety equipment the car came from the factory with as long as it's titled a 1931 Chrysler.

  16. it is titled as a 31. I might run across a state trooper that isn't impressed with what amounts to a fuel altered driving on his street. I figured a seat belt for the passenger would be a good idea in avoiding tickets. the other reason its there is while I was on a squad in Milwaukee more crash victims lost their teeth and embedded glass in their face because a seat belt was not worn. there is a law in wisc that goes back many years. if the vehicle weighs less than 2500 lbs fenders are not required. don't quote me on the weight but I think im close. I was driving my 40 dodge vc pickup truck that was sold with only one rear taillight. a cop pulled me over and wrote a ticket for it. he wouldnt believe me that it was sold that way. even though I was right and fought it winning the case it was a waste of my time. on the side of the road its not always easy to argue your case.

  17. MVD-5 was passed in 1974 in part due to the work of CurtR on the HAMB which is directed at hot rods and customs. I used to keep a copy of it in all my hot rods. In short the dual tail light rule applied to 1950 and newer vehicles, same goes for bumpers and fenders. It was always interesting educating a cop with the booklet after I got pulled over. Almost all were pretty good and cool about it. A couple just hated having to say they didn't know about MVD-5. I made sure to always be respectful and listen more than I talked. I fully understand having seat belts in the car, just good old common sense. And yes, your car does stand out just a bit !!!:D

Got to meet up with Brian and his wife for breakfast this morning. They passed through our neck of the woods on the way to Bowling Green.

    Car is looking mean!

  21. We had a good time at good guys this weekend. We met several more fellow hambers. Bob and debra walker from hot heads were able to see the car for the first time. Rooman came to the rescue with a pair of rear brake pads. I had purchased new pads before drag week. They were a more agressive pad compared to what i used in the past. They didnt last very long. I will go back to what i used before. We left gg after the fuel cars ran saturday. We went north to detroit. Chrysler was having a special event this weekend. My son is a engineer there. He wanted us to join him there. I have posted on here before that the goal is to get the car in the wind tunnel. Here are some cool picks and a video for those who have never seen the wind tunnel. 20161016_093814.jpg 20161016_093842.jpg 20161016_094014.jpg 20161016_093854.jpg 20161016_093924.jpg 20161016_094051.jpg 20161016_094115.jpg 20161016_094132.jpg

  22. The wind tunnel can produce air speeds up to 160 mph. Above that the tiles start getting ripped off pf the ceiling and walls. The car is placed on sensors that are mounted in a rotating table that can turn 180 degrees. Its the only one of its kind. The down forces and lift can be measured on these pads. There are also a large number of other tests that can be done on it. Some of those have to deal with how the suspension acts at speed. With everything going high tech today its interesting to see that the engineers still use tape and yarn for some of the tests. I had a good conversation with a engineer on some things to try on my car and how to do them before it goes in the tunnel.

  24. 20161016_091726.jpg 20161016_112813.jpg 20161016_090203.jpg Thanks jim for posting that video for me. I have a few more that i will try to post monday. I find all this wind tunnel technology facinating. No trip to the world headquarters would be complete without a visit to the 15th floor. the 15th floor is inside the pentastar. this floor has executive offices and the presidents suite. the board room is also up there. its a highly restricted area. I took a pic of me and walter p chrysler while up there. The big pentastar faces I- 75. across the street at the silver dome is where the car crashed a year ago. My son starts a new job tomorrow as he was recently promoted. He brought us up to his new office. His name was already mounted waiting for him. most of the offices have real cool items related to mopar decorating their areas. he has already inquired about borrowing some of my items for display. im sure i can set him up good. Cool stuff for a dad to see.

  27. if your from Wisconsin and can pronounce brett favres name my sons should be easy. it sounds like ki run. its a irish name that means strong and brave. he is named after my karate instructor who I feel is the best overall martial artist I have ever known. he had a great influence on who i am today. I studied under him for several decades. his name is kieron davis. I pursued martial arts like my cars so I have met a few guys over the years.

    Brian,
Kieron has done you proud! It seems like just last week he and his sister were using crayons and coloring books in the corner at Hammes's while we ate lunch and shot the bull about cars.
Man how time fly's... I'm glad I'm not getting older!!!!!

Hi Brian, I'm glad to see that you are making progress dialing in the coupe! It was nice to have a chance to hang out with you for a bit on Drag Week and lend a hand, even though you were in the midst of a stressful thrash to get the car back into the staging lanes.
I have a question for you: Now that you have had an aluminum axle on the car for a while, are there any issues? Is it rigid enuff? would you recommend it? thanks, Joel

  30. weather permitting the coupe might make it to hammess this Saturday. joel I didn't see you at the rock falls race. we were there for Saturday only. there have been no problems with the axle so far. I did put a little extra toe into it for a better ride on the street and track. I can almost drive it with one hand on gas. we will see what happens on nitro. I want to call super bell just to see if this is normal. speaking of nitro scott from nitro madness magazine checked out the car last weekend. he told me to have my local photographer snap some pics. he wants to do a feature on it for the February issue. i spoke to pete ores about it and he is ready to go. pete is the groves photographer and has done work for me before. so now I need to reshuffle the deck to fit that in. I want to get my updated licence before the snow flies and we are running out of weekends to pull it all off. running the car one more time on fuel would be fun. this late in the season can be very dangerous with a fast car so it will have to be 1/8 mile hits. I can almost smell it now.
