I am getting ready to go through my brake system, I am going with the original 4 wheel drum, just adding a dual master and all new components. Anyone done this, is there a good kit to buy or just source everything out seperately, shoe kite, wheel cylinders, hoses, hardware.....etc.....

Mac's has a lot of this stuff too. But you might also want to check NAPA, they may have all or most of it. I think I ended up getting parts and pieces from several sources for my '56.

Have to agree with the guys...id mine just last summer. I got most of the parts from NAPA, and a couple other parts from Little Dearborn here in Minneapolis. All quality stuff.

need an opinion guys. my car isn't on the road yet, but i was contemplating a disc/drum setup? is the disc conversion worth the money and stopping power, or should i rebuild the drum/drum setup and call it a day?

Its whatever you're used to. If you aren't really familiar with how a four wheel drum set up will stop, then running discs up front isn't a bad option. It is slower, not by a mile, but drums simply do not stop as fast.

    I've used carquest and autozone.

I had my '56 upgraded to power but stuck with drums. I remember driving with manual drum brakes. . . dont' get 'em wet, keep 'em adjusted and don't tailgate :) I think they'll be fine.

one main thing i dont like about front drums is trying to keep them adjusted equaly . so they dont pull when you hit the brakes . other then that its realy prference . around here i cant alow enough room in between me and any other *****s on the road . they take my folowing distance as theres . or bow up and stop after pulling into it .

I am ready to do the same for my 54. I defenatlly wan't to add a duel master cylinder. Has anyone herd of the 67 or 68 mustang with 4 wheel drums bolting into the original stud holes on a 54? I would like to add a power booster, I am sure I may need some sort of adapter plate for that. All the 54 Ford places i have looked up only deal with the original single jar type master.
Anyone know who may sell something like this for a power booster?
