rebuilding exhaust hangers?!?

    I have a 63 riv project & need to fix some weird oe exhaust hangers.....any ideas as to where I can get the flex material? kinda looks like the stuff in a rag joint.....if nothing else find a 8ply truck tire & cut it up?

    they sell universal fit hangers at most auto parts. you may have to do some re modifying.
     
  3. i would just buy some cheap universal ones and take the rubber out of them. sure Walker doesn't have exact fit ones?

    Every discarded tire has several dozen exhaust hangers in the sidewalls which can be liberated with a bandsaw.

    Or a good heavy duty razor knife. I've actually bought the rubber part of exhaust hangers at the parts house that were die cut out of sidewalls before.

    I've made a number of them myself after that.

    1.95 at Summit and no real manual labor involved. We used to get universal rubber hangers that were about 2" wide. You need to get some measurements and check some universal hangers for your needs. Google has a great images section to find what you are looking for.
