It looks like something a jig and a hydraulic press could turn out from flat stock. Making the jig would take some effort, but then you could have dozens of them a few minutes later.
Weld it with standard/regular mild steel filler wire. Works great. Using a "hard" or "alloy" wire will prematurely wear down the other part it rubs against.
David. Was also thinking about the press solution. Ill try to have two parts made to make it. It should be fast in a lathe.
I have repaired similar latches by brazing. The bronze is easy to build up, easy to file to shape and wears well. I am not saying it wears as well as hardened steel but your car is not going to have daily use and abuse to contend with either. Braze it and it still will be good as new as long as you own the car.
I think welding it is easier. Once its filled to fit at onecsurface its no go re brazing another side as it will destroy the finished side.... and i would have to have my gas refilled (-:
I may have a couple of those washers from my deuce, need to check in my pile. If I have some they're free.
I think I have some of those cup washers for a Euro Sedan. I even know where the door latches are. PM me if still needed.
