My friend is building a old early hemi for his 50s dodge truck. it has had all machine work done and all new parts, heads are not on yet. when turning motor with crank bolt it make a faint clicking sound, seams like when # 2 piston is coming up. we cant seem to pin point it. any suggestions ?

If you think the noise is coming from # 2 I would pull it and have a look, you may find the problem ( broken ring etc ) if it looks ok turn the motor over with # 2 out see if the noise is still there, process of elimination.

  4. My '55 Ford was doing the same thing (272 that hadn't been cranked since the early '80s) and it turned out to be the starter bendix was stuck in the ring gear, took the starter off and no more click, so it was a starter bendix issue rather than an engine issue, as the engine turned over freely and quietly with the starter off.
