A couple of weeks ago I was doing a fella a favour and dropping off a small bench top wheeling machine to a guy who had a small storage space in a barn 3 miles from where I live .

I passed there most days so dropped in on the passing one day to deposit the tool . When I got there it was evident that he had a few unfinished projects accumulating and the farmer on his case to tidy things up a little.

He showed me a few of his prize purchases and as we went along the row I recognised the front of a particular chassis sticking out from below a tarpaulin . The tarpaulin was covering a very low body and I came over all nostalgic .

I asked the fella about the car under the tarp in particular asking him if it was a chopped and channelled Ford Pop ( Anglia) on what was known to us back in the early days as a JAGO chassis ..

He seemed surprised that I should be able to identify exactly what was below the tarp. I told him that 40 years previous when I was but a late teen , I was dating a rather lovely girl who's brother had a stock Anglia in his fathers garage and a hot rod chassis in the back garden ( the JAGO chassis )

Being as I was already an unrecoverable hot rod junkie I encouraged the bro to make a start to the car and I would help him .. Together we dropped the body on to the new frame chopped the top filled the roof and dropped the body around 5 inches over the frame ..

As happens I split from his sis , he gave up on the build , and a few years later he got married and did the family thing. I got a call to ask if I could find a buyer for the car and managed to move it on in a 3 way deal ,

The fella that took ownership added his mark to it but never completed the build.

The car was moved on several times and eventually landed with the guy 3 miles from my door ..

I have to admit I was nearly overcome with emotion LOL I listened to the fella tell me where he found the car and what he had spent on locating fenders and doors among other bits, and as I tallied up what he was telling me, I hit a figure way over what I thought its value was .. But, undaunted and with my heavily tinted nostalgia specs on, I was hooked . I did find myself thinking "Don't do it" but I blurted out, " would you consider selling it" in a flash he said "make an offer " My mind was racing, with a couple of completed cars in the shed and a project nearing completion and space for the old tub available to hide it from the boss , I thought , Low ball it, he will refuse and your off the hook.. So with my worst negotiating trousers on I blurted out 1500, He thrust his hand forward and said DEAL .. I shook his hand and remembered the words of my dear departed mother .. "ACT IN HASTE, REPENT AT LEISURE"... LOL I ponied up and collected the car the following week .

Its a heap but it has its paperwork and some potential .

So whats the plan.. well I'm a flathead kinda guy, I have a spare running 8ba a good 3 speed , and a rough old 40 rear that I plan to narrow to Anglia spec, drop it on an Anglia rear spring, shorten a torque tube and scare up an original Anglia front axle to get it back up and rolling . It looks like I will have to un channel it a little to get the front fenders to fit , but other than that I think it has the makings of a cool little hot rod .. I know they have been done with a flathead V8 in the past but as far as I am aware its not a common choice especially with the 3 speed and the banjo rear :) When will this happen.. well hopefully I can make a start soon.. The tape measure has already been out and I have confirmed its possible ,.. :)

A couple recent gifts from a dear freind of mine who passed away to soon.. The Coke sign is probably 36" around or better and porcelain. The Ol Schwinn is something she'd had as long as Id known her. It has some 80's updates but Ive got plenty old parts to get it looking better. I do like the gold wheels against the black though. Gonna keep those !

Yesterday was a good day for hotrod scrounging. Bought the skull shift know out of the HAMB classifieds, and it arrived in the mail ahead of schedule. Then I went to the thrift store close to the house, and found the OMC tiki mug at a “take me home” price.

20221130_113402.jpg And at the last minute I found this later M20 / M21 Muncie. Inside looks good. It's been under a lean to roof for over 30 years. I'll probably rebuild it just to relive my youth.

  22. This was sold as a 6 volt carriage light. Light is bolted to the stanchion, so it wasn’t necessarily born that way. Looks like a cowl light on one side and a very minimal tail light on the reverse. I wish I had a pair. Anyone have any insight? C6EB42D6-26DD-4101-B016-96BC7AA9AC53.jpeg

Not a buy, but a find! I’m in the process of moving, and found this laying on my bedroom floor. I don’t know how it got separate from the rest as I have a bunch of awards my dad won over the years with our black Labs. 94948F16-10BD-4107-986F-66DB9E2000E1.jpeg
