  1. Differentials are really cool ,and I don't really know why I think that....I guess the heavy casting which is all business!

  2. For me the idea of a "correct" rear axle puts me in a good mood. Not having what is essentially everyday picknpull fodder under my car. Plus my current S10 rear is a touch narrow for my taste

IMG_7249.jpeg I’ve been looking for a 1/4” drive set and some small wrenches. I found this at the local flea market last Sunday. The wrenches on the right came from one vender . The 1/4” sockets , Craftsmen wrenches and a Husky ratchet came from another vender. All USA made .

I didn't really find this 48 Austin Dorset, it sort of found me.
I had a post in the "WANTED" section here on THE HAMB looking for a 55 Chevy gasser or 37 Chev coupe. The Austin owner sent me a message that he didn't have what I was looking for BUT would I be interested in a Austin. Well, I've owned 7 Willys and 3 Anglias but never a Austin Dorset 2 door so here it is. I got it from recent owner of 2 years, he got it from owner of 40 years (he was the one that actually pretty much built and painted it in the early 1980s. SBC, 350 turbo, 4:88 Olds/Pontiac positraction rear end, 4 wheel disc, CAE front axle, Magnesium American Racing wheels (15 x 4 & 15 x 10). Should be a fun street rod or maybe hit a couple of Gasser meets. 100_4928.JPG 100_4933.JPG 100_5043.JPG 100_4944.JPG 100_4927.JPG 100_4939.JPG 100_4890.JPG 100_4889.JPG

Had that exact set as a kid. Man that was one of my favorite toys! Would have been even more fun if I had someone to talk to with the other walkie talkie! :)

  13. Well that's quite a contraption. Never seen one like that before. It would be interesting to see one of those in operation. I wouldn't want to mount it too close to the wall when it was powered up. I looks like it might blister the paint!

Hung a lamp tonight in our Air B&B. It’s 160 year old house, so we decorate it with antiques or anything funky cool.
My wife picked this up at an antique shop for really cheap, as the marbles were coming unglued after 60 or so years. 640 of them, and I reglued more than 100! It was a slow process that I worked on a little at a time as the glue dried. I had to support the lamp at each end and have it horizontal for the glueing. Then hanging it turned out to be a PIA. Had to fabricate a bracket by hand as nothing I could find local would work.
I would have passed right by this in the antique shop, but my wife thought it was cool. Happy wife, happy life, so I put the time into it. I figured it’s a light that you either think is cool as heck, or it’s gaudy. Take your pick.
I still need to swag the chain, but ran out of time tonight 089EE519-A4B2-4C64-8C99-17401432CB2B.jpeg 3AEA3DD8-B9AB-4166-BD99-429DD66B87E5.jpeg

Found these 2 on FB marketplace. 1st is a 34 Dodge. 2nd I believe is about a 35 Chevy. I don't have a better picture of the Chevy one. Paid $80 for the pair. I was so nervous that someone else would get there before me. Screenshot_20231025-225845.png

Kinda on the new side, but the Mobil station up the road put new signs up. The old ones were next to the dumpster. I can’t let them just toss this! 45B5DBD2-049D-49A6-9139-458B436FF0E3.jpeg

  26. Found this at the local antique mall. Took me all of about 10 sec. To buy it for my Model A. Next summer she gets a paint job! Unfortunately, there is not a lot of info/pics out there on these. I have seen pics of two different models plus mine. So there are at least versions.

  27. Very cool! I bought a similar one off here a few years ago. I added the lights which were off an old test board. I believe mine came from a Jeep.
