Dang, this is cool. I've seen some on the 'bay but finding one in person is way cool. PIR is only 1 month away so maybe I'll find one this year? Definitely something to be picked up at the expo center, not the track
Hey @Smokeshow Yep, definitely something that will show up at the expo center, but never truly under estimate the stuff that will show up at the race track as well, you know exactly what I am talking about! Enjoy !
Boy aint that the truth. Can't discount either venue because I find good stuff at both places. A lot of walking but it's worth it. My favorite swap of the year.
Never knew such a thing existed. Great looking watch. Any idea if they were sold originally or presented to winning racers? Wonder who actually made these watches.
They were made by timedrivers. Actually they are fairly recent I am thinking maybe within the last 20 years or so? they are out of business now and I found very little info on them online
I am not much of a watch wearer so I put it in a display case with some gauges and my vintage Spiro Agnew watch
Nice to know I'm not the only one with a Spiro Agnew watch. Wouldn't mind one of those SW units to go with it.
Propane Plant I worked every light in the place was explosion proof as this . Big big money to replace at that time
My shop has an explosion proof light in the room that was a walk in fridge back when it was still a butcher shop. Not as heavy duty as the one @Okie Pete found, but still neat as an original part of the building.
I was at the junkyard yesterday and found an 80s F350 with a 351w like mine. Now the 351 that I have didn't come with the dip stick and I've only ever seen one engine in the junkyard with the same kind of engine. I ended up having to cut the mount a little because it bolts to the manifold and there ain't no way I was getting that out. So now I have an intact dip stick tube and dip stick
The porta power I figured out. The box not so much. No clue what it was when I saw it. Are they really getting the stupid money for them that I saw?
The intake is 216. What I was looking for. The ports can be modified to fit a 235. Or buy adapter rings. This lets me use 216 carbs without modifying bases The valve cover will fit 216 to 261 with 216 rocker shaft studs added
Funny story on the valve cover and intake. Been looking for a 235 intake for a while. Friend sent me the FB link for this one. Somehow I missed it. Guy had it priced well. Bought both for much less than the price of a new cover. Both are in great shape if not almost new. Guy said his phone blew up with tons of questions and offers. I was way down on the list of people that messaged him. All I asked was when I could pick em up. He sent me his phone number and pulled the ad off FB after we worked out a time to pick em up.
Well played. You asked straight up when you could pick up the parts, no BS questions or low ball offers and it payed off for you.
It hard sometimes not to make an offer even when well priced. the cruiser skirts I just bought was cheap. Probably 1/4 of what I see at swap meets. I sent the same message. When can I pick em up. No haggle, meet up where they tell me and hand em $$ I knew this guy probably had a lot of messages on the 6cyl parts and I was way down on the list. He was shocked how much attention they got and was glad when he was able to remove the post.
Fun stuff from the swap meet this weekend, the labor sign is hand painted and not printed, the shields are aftermarket add-on tail light pieces for 52-54 Ford cars, to give a '53 Oldsmobile look. My '52 has Olds lenses in it, going to try these on it and see if I like it. The plate frame was from a recent vacation in Vegas, I looked at every souvenir shop in town and found exactly one of these. The new version that everyone carries is way too modern looking for my taste, and this one is still chromed die cast metal. Wish I would have found more. Also got this steering wheel at the swap, the wheel is a bit modern for my taste and not sure what it's off of, but it has a 6 bolt early Corvette style adapter for a tapered shaft with a keyway, and a nice looking, generic horn button. Might be from a boat? Will probably end up hanging from the rafters but I couldn't leave it behind. And my big purchase of the weekend was this S-W Master 8 panel, I've been looking for one for a while to put in my '34 Ford someday-project. The gauges are pretty well junk other than the mounting hardware and some salvageable lenses but the panel itself looks like it'll clean up plenty nice enough for my usage and has all good studs. I'm guessing it's from a dual engine boat, based on the two key switches. Saw it a month ago at a swap for $250, then $200 at this one. Went back at the end of the day and offered every dollar I had left on me which was $140. He didn't want to go that low but I couldn't come up any, and eventually he let me have it. I feel like that's a good price and I told him I appreciated the deal.
Picked up this nary seen box of Plomb ignition files from the 'bay the other day. I'm not sure how long it had been listed for but as soon as I saw it I couldn't hit the buy it now button quick enough. When was the last time you ever saw one of these files or better yet, the box? These are the 5" pocket clip version. As you can see these are not very big. A 7/16 is slightly longer than the box and a 3/8 fits inside just right. Box is in good shape and the leftover files inside are not used. Box is a bit interesting because it's green, unlike the other Plomb/proto boxes I either posses or have seen in the more common tan paper fiber color. I'm curious as to who was the manufacturer of these?? Lutz or Atkinson or ??
Also picked up this mobil gas (socony vacuum) dealer catalog off eBay. Shows a lot of the cool stuff I would love to have in my garage, or that I currently have ( a few of the cans/glass bottles).
Vendor set up day at the Westminster MD swap meet. It pays to dig! A guy was unloading and let me rummage in the unopened bins. Scored a pair of Fenton caps, exactly what I wanted to find! One has damaged ears, like a hub was sticking out as the wheel was drawn on. Possibly repairable. They cleaned up nice and were $25. Book and horn button are gifts for friends. Cal Custom stuff radiator cap & pedal are NOS.
