I didn’t know such a thing existed That is Kool . Is it steel or fiberglass? What powered it ? A hamster in a wheel ?
Haven't been able to afford too much this past year, but I did score a deal on a second spotlight, and a fourth hubcap. Also got a deal on a piece of 42 Ford trunk trim, and was able to pull a more traditional-looking steering column from a 70s Ford camper, and some merc tail lights all for my 47 Ford
Got this on Sunday at the swap meet. I know it’s not mercury, don’t have much luck with edsel, going to check out studebaker next. It is a spring loaded cover likely for a lock. A friend did some research, it would appear this is late fifties Mercury after all.
Got some stuff today...9.00/9.50 M&H slicks on14x9 Fenton Gyros, a whole group '50 Merc stuff, no repros and 4-'67 Cougar wheel cover spinners. Gene.
My wife granted me a quick walk through the antique mall yesterday on our day trip. I was quite happy to see this bi metalic Oldsmobile thermometer. I like thermometers and old cars, and no toxic mercury. Made in St Paul Minn, given away I expect in London Ontario. I can find another one on the internet, advertising Windsor Ontario. No guess about how old it is - yet.
Went to my brother's house on Father's day and he let me loose in his basement said see something you like ...its yours...he does estate sales and farm clean ups so he has lots of cool stuff I grabbed a couple of items, this cast aluminum surfer and some old toy cars
Just a small thing, but cool. My wife and I own a small stone house, built in 1860. We do the Air B&B thing with it. The stone stairway that leads down into the cellar was wide open when we bought the house a few months back- An obvious liability. So we had a local farmer cut some rough 1” thick Oak boards for us, and build this door using some old square cut nails we had. Not wanting renters to have access to our basement storage I found this working antique padlock, which I installed today. It came out pretty good IMO. Fits in perfect with the ruggedness of the house.
Neat looking door. Just playing the devils advocate here… The hasp should of been attached with the plate covering the screws. Otherwise a Phillips screw diver is all you need to open. Round head carriage bolts for the hinges.
Ah, you know, you’re right! I’ve never put one of these on before, and I was thinking “boy this isn’t too secure” as the screws are exposed. But enough to keep snoops out. It looks like I can just redo it that way pretty easily. Thanks!
Don't know how common it is , but I have that one and many others in my collection, they are handy for references...the one that shows the bodies and body parts is really cool , mine go into the 40's for Ford , I have some other makes also. Of course it's always nicer when there's pictures to look at instead of a book of just numbers.
Was supposed to go look at some truck parts last weekend. I was expecting to find rusty, janky, parts… buried in a barn full of raccoon poop. That’s how my life usually goes. NOT THIS TIME! I was pleasantly surprised to find some 1947 Dodge truck sheet metal. NOT rusted. It still has paint on it! And the nice lady I bought them from hauled them out of the barn and hosed them off before we got there! Story is that these were spare parts for a ‘47 Dodge truck that she and her husband owned. He passed away, and the truck got sold. Guy that bought the truck never came back for these parts, and they were sitting in the barn ever since.
Glassbeaded it, fixed the cuts around the edge and spent 15 mins or so with some markers. Not sure why the black on the Cop car showes up silver, looks black in person? Going to be my uncles birthday present...if he can keep his ass out of the VA hospital long enough. Gene.
Picked this up from a Ford guy yesterday...us both thinking it might be small Chevy. When I checked today, the bolt holes are too far apart, 10 3/4" across the top two and 11" across the botom two. I found the Hurst name on it, but no numbers...anyone know? Gene.
Estate sale I attended today. Never seen a Shurhit distributor machine before. I'll clean it up sometime. Plus a planter made out o old dealership sign.
Man that sign would have been a major score if found intact. Still cool though, I bet it was a home made tire tank for finding leaks.
Buddy of mine wants to cut it apart and reassemble it and hang it outside his shop. He owns both a DeSoto and a Plymouth.
Did a quick dust off of the Shurhit machine today. Doesn’t look too bad. I am not finding much info on the web.
Upgraded my harbor freight metal brake with this unit. My uncle had an auto service garage for almost 40 years, unfortunately, he passed last year due to covid complications and this was one of his shop tools I was blessed to have the opportunity to pick up as well as the hydraulic press in the background, an oxy/acetylene torch setup and a bunch of his body hammers and dollys. Can't find any brand or name on it. Anyone have any ideas??
I bought a 130 year old house a few years back to rent out. Wanting to cash out in the current market, I’m selling, and closing next week. My wife bought this home today after cleaning a few of our things out,and said there is a few more. They were hidden in the crawl space, just over the basement wall. I’ll go over there later and check them out. Almost looks like a classroom poster for a school. It measures 35”x23”
My wife found these at a antique mall/flea market that was shutting down. I know the one on the bottom is Sunoco. But what do the letters mean? They have tabs and can be swapped out it appears. No idea what the thing in the upper right is from. Any ideas?
