I've used D&D in Providence a bunch of times for car and boat stuff and have been real happy with the quality, price, and delivery. A lot of my friends have used them and had the same great experience.
They'll do what ever level of job you want done.

What ever you do, DON'T USE Nu-Chrome, unless you want to get ripped off, lied to, poor quality, and slow service way beyond what is quoted. Thats coming from my personal experience.

Have you considered a chrome alternative? Here is an example.

Obviously not chrome, but it's not too bad in that application. So what is it and who did it?

The finish is more like polished aluminum than chrome. It's a special powder coating process. You can have it done at my shop. I'm thinking if you check with your restoration shops, and they have access to powder coating, they can point you in the right direction to have it done closer to home.

Hey roddinron, after my last post, I checked on your location to see if I could help you out and find a powder coat or restoration shop close to your location. Hell, sounds like you live in my shop. Just throw your parts in the blast cabinet and get busy. I'll have David show you the rest of the process. Still laughing my *** off......

God No! Don't go to Nu Chrome. I went there to get lights done and they chromed the nuts right to the studs. They had a bunch of illegals working there. Had to sue them and only got half my money back. Don't walk away ...Run.

I hate to disagree with themoose but my buddy had some chrome done at New England (Trim down the center of the hood on his 37 Chevy). They buffed it side to side instead of length wise. There are ripples all down the center and every time he drives it he has to look at it.

There is a shop called Ogden Chrome in Ogden, Utah, that is supposed to be a top-quality place with good prices. Another, called JR Plating in central Minnesota. Heard about both here on the HAMB, too. I'm sure someone will pipe up before long.

Hey Jim..If he's not satisfied he should have them redo it. I'm sure they will if he shows them whats wrong.

I'm not sure what the story is on why he put it on the car instead of having them redo it but I know he isn't happy with it. It's been on the car for 3 years now.

x2 on D&D - I've had everything from dash bezels to window frames to tail light bezels done there.

  17. I wanted to post a before and after, not the best picture but let me say they came out VERY nice!!! In order to get the belts, buckles apart I had to snap the steel ends on the adjuster, then weld it all up, my repairs came out real nice, but the chrome job really set them off! I am very pleased, I didn't think they would come out as nice as they did as they were really starting with well worn, very beat up pieces..but ChromePlaterJosh's family did an amazing job!

  19. they will take awhile, but also will be done on the timetable they give you....my buckles were in terrible shape, I had smoothed them out before sending but they finished them off (but I do have a lot of experience working with metal, so you may just want to send them as is, as they definitely know what they are doing) They really did a great job!

I've seen some of JR Platings work and it looks top notch although I haven't personally dealt with them. Seen some of their sample stuff on display and actual cars that they had plating done by them.

BostonCamaro, I'm glad to see they came out well! I'm pretty sure it was my baby brother Jake who polished those. Little bro growing up, learning fast like I did

  22. He did a great job, will definitely send other stuff to you guys when I am ready!
