Hi all, Can someone please recommend a good tuner for my flathead. It's a 59AB with 3x 97 progressive and a crab dist. Was breaking down at mid / high speed so I replaced the points which turned out to be burnt. Local supplier only had Drake points and now the timing sets at full retard and I can't get it to idle right. New points back in and vacuum gauge on manifold says its fine (about 19). Engine appears to idle fast and with no lump? in it. I know it runs rich so want a second opinion on my findings. It also seems to run out of gas at 90 mph or so. Off the throttle for a bit and it seems to catch up again. Any advice or if you can point me in the right direction as to a tuner is appreciated. Jamie
Update. I pulled the distributor and found the drake points pivot pin hole was not drilled true. It caused the arm to pivot on an angle and not keep the points parallel. Grabbed an old pair of Echlin points I had and filed them as smooth as I could and installed. All is back to normal and car is timing and running as it should. Ordered a new set of Echlin points and will put them in.
