    Hi all,

    I'm looking to have my Model A coupe chopped next year and trying to gather a list of possible shops. Any recommendations in Michigan or other Midwestern states? Thanks in advance.

    Don't know what all he does. The Egyptian Custom Body Shop is down in Dayton.

    This note is to help;
    Many shops do chops,a few do it well. Even fewer let a customer know if he is asking for too much chop=" Customer is all ways right" is not always a good thing. First idea, is think over what you want,understand about chops being done too much { Cartoon chops}{over 4 inch or even close in most cars,makes them poor drivers. = Gets parked n sold off,shortly after finished,or just parked n rots. Point being shops do work for $,but no refund for having them do what was asked,even when it turned out to of been a poor driver.

    I closed down my own shop 20+ years ago n retired,was in bizz 40+ y. Did racecars n hotrods. Worked on 6 chops,but 2 of those were actually adding back up,owners were unhappy with there hotrods as is.when they got it from some other owner.
    Lucky ,one job still had parts removed, in box of junk he got with car.,other I had to fab missing metal> it cost near 2X $ to fix that one.

    If I was in the northern section of the Midwest I’d be talking to Bob Bleed at Midwest fabrication in Wisconsin to do the chop.

    Chopping a top is one of the coolest and most fun things to do on a hot rod. If you do a bit of research, formulate a plan and enlist the HAMB for help, it just might be something you can handle yourself.

    Here is the second thing I ever chopped as a wee lad many moons ago...

    Either way, good luck and take lots of pictures.

    Another shop is "choprods" on here. It's been a couple of years since he got on here but his profile has his contact information. It's possible/probable that he has chopped more cars than anyone else in history.

    He's in north Missouri.
