With Ryan posting the ask a hot rodding legend thread, it got me hot again about recording my grandpa. He's now Tommy Ivo but his stories of racing and good times are just unbelieable. Anyway, I really want to get this rolling. He's not getting any younger, even though he could work circles around most of us... Exactly HOW do they record these fellas? I've bought a voice modem to record my grandpa and it was horrible on the clarity. I bought the box from radio shack that allows you to record telephone conversations. Great if you are putting it on tape but I can't get enough volume when running it into the computer and recording it to MP3. I want MP3 so I can share it here.... Who is in charge of recoding on that American Hot Rodder site? I'd like to contact them... I need to try this, it has a volume attenuator (sp??) built in.... http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/70 help me out here, guys, you'd love to hear this stuff....
I think Shomertech may have good gear for this. They make stuff oriented to paranoid schizophrenic amateur detective guerilla survivalists...good telephone section, with devices to plug neatly into phones so you can record at will. Also, a nifty section of telephone gadgets designe to drive your enimis crazy...
I could sell you a voice mail system or unified messaging platform that allows call recording to a hard drive in a wav file. It would probably run in the $10-15,000 range. If you were close to a business that had this type of application you might be able to initiate the calls from their office. I sell this stuff for a living. I will search Skype and Vonage. Not sure if they have record capabilities. Tim
Not to high jack the tread but Tommy Ivo was my HERO as a kid. I'd do what I could to get to the drags if he was there. He was always nice to us kids at the track, very cool man.
uh, that's a bit out of my range..... i did stay at a holiday inn last night..... i did find this, though.....still a bit pricey but worth every penny if it REALLY works http://www.usbblast.com/
