There is one of those for sale here in Colorado on Craigslist if you don't want to use that rust bucket. http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/3146067286.html
Thanks for the thought. Unfortunately that's a business coupe, shorter doors, different roof than the club coupe. Very subtle differance's. So subtle that I bought a club coupe to practice on. It was a great price. I was going to try out some of the techniques that Jesse was saying were used on the chop. I swear that I loaded up a club coupe into the trailer but, the car that came out was a business coupe. NOW HOW THE HELL DID THAT HAPPEN!? So, until your really aclimated to the differance's, bad things can happen. You've gotten off easy.
Well, lets see, it's got a comfortable seat that goes back and forth. It's got dual radio speakers, and those old, cool, mirrors on the visor.
Btw,I definitely wouldn't use the cool "Turf Club" pic above for reference, when it's time to pick tires. The whitewall is too small.Tires on the other pic posted by Jeff look much better.
Now see, there is a gap with the tires, they were big and little. Jesse can't remember the size's. This is the value of doing this together. There will be more streams to cross.
Man I just can't believe a fellow HAMBer checked this car out for you and said what he said. It really brings down the HAMB when you trust one of us to go out and check out a vehicle and then tell a bunch of lies to the person trusting you to do this for them. I'm sure you can do some magic to it but it will just take a little more time. Good luck in the build, I'll be watching......
After seeing the Conway coupe in person, I can't wait for this one to be finished. You, sir, are a true craftsman & I thank you for keeping the kustom flame burning brightly.
Jer, Sorry to hear about the car .. The HAMB person who looked that over for you should be tied up and drag behind it for a few miles( just kidding). It's not even my car and it makes me mad.. Well you have a positive look at it "Cut her up ! " All the best on this build... Can't wait to watch this one !!!
Well, I think we need to look over this battlefield that we're going to fight on. So, we should know what we need to know by the end of this next week.
Thanks pinstriper. These two car's (Jr's & Jesse's) are very different. We'll spend a minute or two there on the way to the finish line.
Now that's dedication to the craft. Look forward to learning what those technique's are, as well as the whole enchilada. Great stuff Jerry!
The things that fascinate me most about these recreations is the look at the people (19 y.o. Jesse, 24 y.o. Sam) and how they went about doing the things that made them legends. Here we have two young guys reacting to the culture (SoCal, in the 40's), doing the first Ford Club Coupe chop. They did it the simplest, most logical way that they could. Much different than what we see today. Using methods and tools (or, lack thereof), that we wouldn't even consider today and, what did they get for all this effort?
I am sure you will blow people away with the end product . It's very admirable to re create these rides and very inspiring to alot of us. Your attention to detail and to remain on point is what a true recreation needs and you follow through on all accounts
Hey guys, I've come up against a problem that won't let me by. I'm trying to find a source for coil over rear shocks that would look correct to the period 1940-1955. HELP!
