Yes, I am very proud of that! I hope all is well with you and David. :)
This is one of my favourite kustoms, even though me and Dave have another kustom favourite, as well... :D

  5. Okay, so how come with all the time I spend on here I continue to miss these awesome build threads..?

I will have to spend some time reviewing your jr. tribute thread (a quick look had me in awe), but I have subscribed to this one! I'm very excited to be able to watch this project come together as the original car is truly an Kustom icon! Wow!

Hey Pete, here's a pic of the face that the SW gauges need to have. I need a temp, oil and a mech tach. These wiuld be the small 2 1/4" ones.

I have 4 of them. Oil pressure, water temp, amp and fuel. I'll need to move out my display case to get them. They are all in need of some minor restoration.

How exact of a recreation are you trying to do? The gauge you picture is a 1980's era SW. If the car was completed in the mid 50's, it probably had winged gauges. If it was completed in the later 50's it might have had big-logo gauges.

At the very least, get some SW's with the all white pointer. Those with the black paint on the tail scream 1980's to anybody in the know.

What do you mean? I can't hear the pronounciation of the Whoow. Did you value my info, or are you blowing me off? I was just trying to be helpful to a cause that seems worthy.

I was wondering the same thing. These gauges are pretty late for this period build.

If these turn out to not be what you need I have some large logo gauges as well. I collect all types of them. Just let me know what you want to do. I agree with alchemy thought. These are late 70's through the 80 gauges. They don't fit the build at all. I'd that's what you want to run its cool with me. Your car, your decision.

I needed a piece with some reinforcement in it. I found it in the firewall of the "parts" car.

I removed the lip from the trunk opening on my parts car and made a lip for the lower trunk opening on the build car.

With the trunk floor I think we're done with the rust repair.

The previous owner has been calling me regarding what’s going on with “the car”.
I finally emailed him to say that between him, and his neighbor that put it on CL, and the inspector that I had look at it , I feel de-frauded and not in a “friendly mood”.

Hey, maybe I can sell off some of the pristine “bright work” and recoup some $.
I have “budged” the engine a whole ½”.

OK, all that aside, this is a pretty solid car know.

It happens. You can never trust someone else's opinion on how solid something is. I've fixed cars that most would scrap and thought they were solid. It's all relative. Things seem to be going your way now.
