Hey Guys, I'm trying to find a steel manufacture that will sell me some rectangular tubing 2 1/2'' x 1 1/2'' x 1/4''... It seems to be an odd size as I can't seem to find it anywhere??? Thanks.
Central Steel and Wire lists 2 1/2" x 1 1/2" x 14 ga. and 11 ga. wall. No 1/4" wall in their catalog. I would be willing to bet that 1/4" wall in that size will be impossible to find unless you order a mill run (5000 ft min). Why do you need that kind of wall thickness (you might as well by bar stock)? Would 11 ga. (0.120) work just as well?
Thanks guys. I was going to try and make some traction bars for my rear suspension..Wasn't sure if less than a 1/4'' would be strong enough?..Probably would be...I've never built them before,So I would rather have too much strength than not enough?
.045" thinner, thats a bit. 11 gauge or .120" wall will be just fine unless you want to build a bridge. Pat
