Went to the neighborhood hardware store Saturday afternoon. As I pulled up I noticed that part of the parking lot as roped off and there was a small car show going on. Mostly Studebakers for some reason, and of course I brought along a camera.

Didn't know they made "Mary Kay Pink" pick-ups. The color might take some getting used to but this Stude was a really clean job.

This one at least had Studebaker hubcaps. Afraid I don't know much about this jewel but it is an old orignal build and I think it was a magzine feature car back when it was built.

And of course I saved the best for last. I got to hang around with Red Green for a couple minutes! :D

He was doing a show in town Sat. night and did a "meet & greet" at the hardware store. So at least I don't feel like the whole day was a waste.

Just remember, if the women can't find ya handsome, at least they can find ya handy.

And don't forget the handyman's secret weapon.....duct tape.

So how many rolls of duct tape did you have him sign?

I loved it when he turned the pick-up into a convertable, by putting a seat in the bed, a Garden Weasle on the wheel, and two broom sticks on the pedals. I always wanted to try a more refined version of that. Come to think of it I do have an '89 Chevy just sitting around......hmmmmm

You were a Gandy dancer? ..... Can't you see it's a painful memory! (my favorite quote from one of the early shows where neighbor Bill is telling a long winded lie about building the Canadian railroad.)

I was just wondering the same thing. He does have a cool name though. Now I'm thinking I might change my name to Whitey Black or Pinky Brown.

Steve Smith (a.k.a Red Green) has been one of our best kept secrets for decades. Yup.. he's Canadian. And notice how FEW times anyone says "eh" on the show! We don't all say "eh" like y'all from the states don't say "y'all". :p

To get a little more info on him go to: http://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.com/index.cfm?PgNm=TCE&Params=A1ARTA0009914

He retired the show in 2006 but sometimes does online, live chats where he shows he hasn't lost the very quick wit. And, as you see.. he has a traveling show.

For an engineer he has an amazing sense of haha. RELAX all you engineers... sheesh. See what I mean?

His wife was a great part of his earlier shows but apparently didn't tv life.

If you don't laugh during a Red Green show.. you have issues.

The Red Green show has been on public TV in the US for many years, eh? Loved it, mostly, but the sissy dude with the strange electronic guitar was a little over the top. Didn't Red invent duct tape? Gary

Hot damn that thing is hideous. it looks like someone took the back of a very ugly car and stuck it on the front of another ugly car.

Maybe.. but Red would only cook with road-kill on a hot manifold.
And it wouldn't take "a coupla days" ;)

You either love or hate the Avanti.

Skip the Red Green movie though - it was a boring yawn.

Actually ND doesn't have it anymore last time I had TV. The kicker is just south of you where my folks live in western NE, they have it there, but nobody there understands the humor. What a waste.

  26. I stumbled across the Red Green Show long ago while looking for an Austin City Limits broadcast and have been a Possum Lodge wannabe ever since. You have to see the broadcasts several times just to absorb everything that is going on;especially in the background sound.

  27. Love Studes and Red Green. Both originals.
I'm a Kansas dude and I think Red Green hits all us men where we live. Living in Minnesota even makes it funnier.
Maybe a thrifty 60 would fit into a Canoe streamliner. Little duct tape and look out 200mph club.

  28. I always liked the constant sound of gun shots and chain saws in the back ground in the early shows. The smoking stove. :D

We got him on KCPT. My shop teacher had us watch Red Green for study hour.
