Does anyone make a floor shifter for a 54 241 Dodge hemi w/ a 3 speed? It was out of a column shift car. If not I am looking for a top loader 3 speed if anyone has one.
years ago you could buy a Universal floor shift, but they were junk. We would cut down column shift linkage and make our own floor shifters. They were pretty poor also, but it worked. I am sure that if you tried you could adapt most any 3 speed shifter to your transmission. The Vega shifter for the Sag trans bolts to the floor, not the transmission and is real easy to use, but for a 4 speed. Just leave off that rod.
I had one in a dune buggy years ago. If I remember right it had a selecter type trans where the shift lever went fore and aft as well as in and out. We had to make the shifter back then and I doubt anybody ever made one for sale.
I don't think these are available any longer. It is a selector as others have mentioned. Only a shifter specifically for a selector will work. The later top loaders are stronger anyway.
Drag Fast once made a shifter for it, but best of luck finding one. I've had and sold two of them in the past twenty years.
