The same thing always happened to me when the roof was stock too!

[/ QUOTE ] are you kiddin????? the windows are 3" tall !! , now look at the rear ...those tires would act like blinders, that thing has to be like looking through a telescope.....

regardless...... the kid outsmarted us all

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Nope!! Not kidding.

My windows are 4" tall... I can see just fine (although my carbs do not sit in front of the windshield). In my opinion, (the opinion of someone who actually drives a hammered coupe every day) the blind spot is caused by the part of the roof between the rear window and the quarter windows (and his engine of course!). The only problem I think he would have is seeing forward. If I ever run into you, I'll give you a ride and let you see for yourself. I've made believers out of many that way...

Ok,just to clear things up, when he posted $5000 profit it was up to $9k,then some guy called him and offered him $14k over the phone, and is wiring the dough...Its still on egay until the money comes.......This kid is in the Aces club and he is 18 and still wet behind the ears.He built his first rod in my garage when he was 16,and everything came out of his pocket....I like the car,its a little low for me,but he wanted to build the lowest coupe in existence, and he did.Dont bag on it until you look at it up close and see the engineering he did on this.He is 6'3" and not cramped when he sits in it,shit you can swim in that thing theres so much room.Of course you got the engine in front of the windshield, which is like a semi drivin in front of you. [IMG]You can mock this kid all you want but he has huge talent for his age and face it its kids like him that are keeping rodding alive for the future...Come on guys heres a real young gun on the HAMB,not some wanna be....

after learning who this guy was..I felt bad for talking shit...yeah he's definitely "A" ok in my book..keep up the good work man...

    V8,
Dude, when I was 18 I rode a ratty Honda 175, had just seen Easyrider and dreamed of building a chopper with ten foot forks and a massive cissy bar. I was too busy being a teenager and getting drunk and pissing my years away against a wall, so did nothing. You are 18 now and building cars and doing what you want to do.
As far as I am concerned I admire you immensely for taking the world by the balls and saying THIS IS WHAT I WANT TO BUILD: HERE IT IS!

If people don't like it, that is their perogative, but to slag off somebody elses car, like is happening here, is just childish beyond means. Maybe stateside dudes have a different sense of humour than us Brits, but I sure hope I never get the treatment you are getting for building your dream. Good luck, and just do what YOU want to do, and tell the rest to just fuck off.

    Same here...
My windshield is 6" tall, but it is layed back a lot.
and I still only use the top half of it.
There is a blind spot where LP says it is, but I have owned a Delivery Van and a very low Italian Sports car before, and they were both more dificult to drive in heavy traffic than my Roadster.
And nobody thought either one of those cars was radical in any way...
I just use my rear view mirrors a lot.
I am more worried about somebody not seeing me than me not seeing them.
But I am not sure what you would have to drive for that, a buddy of mine drives a bright orange Dodge Charger and he almost got ran off the road because they did not see him...

I have no comment to how stupid you sound. Your all into the scene and trying to stand out by talking with so much drama and thought. I can't wait to see what you look like. I bet your house is dirty and your wearing a dirty wife beater. You prabobly have three dictionarys by your computer and all have big writing in them and about once an hour you think of all your molestations as a schoolboy and try to come on this board to appease you feelings and hate towards mankind. You prabably have a few cats too and a bunch of tattoos and everytime you leave your house you look in the mirror and get a tuff attitude as you walk out the door. I think you should just stop with the literature and start talking about cars without cracking an almanac. Just my 2 cents or maybe I should try doing something that JKUSTOM should look into and save my F'n 2 cents and put it into my car...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Looks like our educational system is laying down on the job. I believe you young man need the dictionary. I myself prefer http://www.dictionary.com. And yes I have tattoos and wifebeaters. Hell I even have a wife. As for your car. Well it's neat in a very cartoon sort of way. The same way I dig Rat Fink drawings. But I still find it to be VERY unrealistic to drive every day. I don't find it tasteful in the least. I'm surprised you could even get that thing registered. I know your gonna yell and scream but I do, I drive it, I built it, it's sooooo cooollll! Whatever! I'm gonna give it a name, WHEAT, like rice only american. Form follows function.....

hey kid, for every bloke on here calling you "kid", there's probably a 64% chance you could beat the royal fuck out of them, and take them to the cleaners in a hot rod build-off, so i'd suggest you tell them to dispense with the condescending tone...

yup. no man should have to get on his KNEES to get into his own fucking car!

and the blind spots and lack of being seen by others on the road compares in no way to riding a motorcycle, on a bike, you can see hear and feel everything around you, and can maneuver to avoid trouble.

i have driven DANGEROUS cars, that car is plain dangerous to drive on the public roads.

i don't fucking believe the comments that you can see out of it, you ain't seeing nothing to the rear, it doesn't compare to the others rides who commented, you are laying down in this car, try to crank your head and look out the 1" mailslot rear window at 70 miles an hour while your heads bouncin offa the roof. right.

ever seen cars like BMW Isettas, or the Uncertain T with wind up cranks on the back like a lifesize toy? how about a sardine can key on the roof on this one so the paramedics don't have to get out the jaws of life to get the corpse out of the crushed car.

again, looks cool in the cartoon way, but don't pretend its anything but a rolling deathtrap. you've been lucky so far.

the thing about it is, the guy who BUILDS a car like that, has a slightly better chance of adjusting his driving for such a contraption, but the buy who BUYS it...good luck to that sorry shit who thinks he's gonna hot rod around in that thing, i can't wait to see it unchopped and unchanneled, cause his wife won't ride in it cause dudes get nice beaver shots when she crawls in and out.

What's the BFD??? The guy has his car for sale! He didn't ask for opinions. The naysayers aren't buying it but someone will. Leave the kid alone.

Ok.... I have to say that if I saw this car at a show, I would probably check it out for at least an hour or so and take a bunch of pics of it...
I admire the work that you have put into it....

If I had been able to build something like this when I was 18, can you imagine what other cars I would have been able to build over that past 12 years or so....

Many times when building something new and different, you have to take it to the extreme, over the edge point in order to back up later and see what you can change or have improved....
It is thinking like this and this thought process that has allowed mankind to achieve all of the amazing things that we take for granted today....

"your gonna build a horse-less buggy... how is that thing gonna move... you gonna hafta push it"?
A motorized car was extreme thinking at one point and look where we are today as far as the automotive industry is concerened....

I applaud you for thinking "all the way" and taking a concept as far as you can.....

I've laughed, I've cried but reading this this thread made my sides split.
germ has a way with insults that can't be matched, the way I see it when the insultee resorts to calling the insultor 'faggot' the insultor wins.
By the way, idiots, rediculous is not a word.
On to the severely squashed coupe, it is merely the equivalent of 27" wheels, competitive eating contests, porn stars trying to outdo each other in the number of different men can penetrate them in any given hour or the number of times a thirteen year old can ride Space Mountain in a row etc etc.
In other words it was an excercise in going too far, and I can appreciate that v8 dude. However when you claim that your coupe is driveable and comfortable I will not buy that for a dollar, no way homey.
My own severely chopped '34 is way too uncomfortable for any kind of distance driving and it's nowhere near as radical as some rides around. However the difference is I didn't purposely build my car to give me leg cramps and no easy way of farting in the tight sitting position. My car's body was chopped like that years ago for the express purpose of getting to the end of the 1/4 mile as quick as possible.
There's no way I'd do something like that for a street driven car, it's just plain dumb. But for $500 you takes what you can get.
Lookit I'm glad there's an 18 year old doing the shit you do, but I think youthful bravura's gotten in the way of common sense.
You should count your lucky stars that you won't have to suffer getting in and out of your car anymore, that job is now the guy's who gave you 14 large for it.

A lot of us have similar situations that we eventually learn to adapt to. Tell me how easy it is to look out the side of my 40 pickup. The back window is pretty tiny, huge blind spots at 4 o'clock and 7 o'clock, peep mirrors are no help because the cab is so much wider in the rear than it is in the front you would have to almost use semi truck mirrors to see around it but yet I've learned to adapt after 10 & 1/2 years on the road. I lean out my fucking window and look before I move around the road.

Cab space is another issue. I'm a pretty small guy so space really doesn't bother me. You build your ride around what you can stand. You don't see big ric trying to get into my truck or Flt-Blks truck. He'll get freakin stuck. I think smaller guys like me, Flt-Blk, Outlaw, we would have plenty of room to squirm around inside that coupe.

Yes, the car is not for everyone. It wasn't built for you big guys, well at least not for any trips over about 30 min or so.

I love it. I would drive the shit out of it. I think it's cool as hell. Just another way of promoting extreme. Nothing wrong with that!

Just my thoughts....but who fucking cares right!

    later,

This is getting stupid, I mean talking about peoples spelling and reading capabilities, I feel like i'm in high school, wait a minute that kid just graduated high school, no wonder he's acting the way he is! Talking about mom's and shit how low is that.. In my town this kid would have gotten rolled, I don't know about San Clemente.. You built a car you sold it, not many 18 yr. old guys can say that, congradulations, I hope you do invest that money to further your education. Hey I know your defending your product, but you never posted a "here's my car tell me what ya think" post. I wonder why, did ya know you would get this type of shit? Anyways congradulations you have skills that I wish I had and you use them well...

  25. I think I would be afraid to drive it. Not because I couldn't see but because I'm afraid someone else wouldn't see me.

Having said that... I like it. It is like a rolling cartoon and could become the poster child for what so many are trying to achieve. It is one of the more extreme examples.

Good for you V8. You built the car and built it your way. That's what it is all about.

I can't believe I read this whole damn thread. [IMG]

Oh well SHIT!!! This is gonna go on all MONTH, ain't it? [IMG]

I couldn't get in or out of that thing, nor likely drive it anywhere NOW...but I could have, and surely WOULD have back when I was 18! I've no doubt that this kid is young enough and flexible enough to be able to have fun with the car he built!

Some yuppie lawyer wanting to re-live the hot rod youth he never had probably bought it and will crawl to his chiropractor as he drafts the lawsuit immediately following his first attempt at driving that car...and the kid will have the last laugh...buying it back from the guy for eight grand then reselling it to another Urban Badass and making MORE money off of it!!

    [IMG] [IMG]

I dunno...I wouldn't buy it cuz it ain't my cup of tea and I know I couldn't drive it...but on the other hand, I give the kid props for building it himself and enjoying it while he's young enough to do so! Nobody can take that away from him!

Maybe it's penis envy? His hangs lower and gets more attention than YOURS? [IMG] [IMG]

    Kudos, Boy! [IMG]

  30. If this kid chooses to better his skills on each and every car he builds... he'll be alright... shit, he may even end up a RULER some day (I wouldn't bet against it).

I aikin' V8 to this 8th grader at my school who plays piano... last Thursday at the talent show... he had everyone applauding in amazement.

When I asked our music teacher what he thought... he said "Aaa... he does ok. He's very TECHNICAL... but has a need to mature"

WTF is musical maturity sound like?

I think you'll know it when you hear it... it'll bring tears to your eyes...

Just like the tears you get when you saw Jimmy Shine's car for the first time...

My advice for the boy would be to put down Rat Rodz Magazine... and pick up The Rodders Journal... cause he's years ahead of us all in experience... and with maturity, comes a need to achieve... not to compete.

    Sam.
