I drove my Deuce up to Lebanon,Tn. to the meet. I like the meet but it stills tends to orient towards rat rods. There are some more traditional cars making it there too. The swapmeet isn't super organized but there are a lot of vendors. I have to say there were more there than I've seen at any other meets. Super cool Willys , just the way I remember them. Super rare Ford four cam motor kept people baffled. One guy was looking at it and said "what is it?" "It says F-O-R-,oh, it is a Ford!" Some nice traditional pieces there. Pretty stock Anglia However the following were more of the "staus quo" as they say.
A buddy of mine passed away a year and a half ago and we were set-up selling his parts for his widow. Had a great day selling parts and meeting new people. It's always great to see old friends. We had a good time. Yea, this show brings out the rats but their are some nice cars that do show up. I've been going to this show several years and this was by far better than the rest. Thanks to Scooter for putting on such a cool venue and to all the folks that came by. Oh and thanks for posting the pics.
Here are a couple of "later" model cars that were there. I guess next year,I'll have to be a two dayer. I always loved the 61 Pontiacs. 57 Oldsmobiles were among my favorites too.
I went there last year while on holiday, I've never seen so many poorly built cars in one place !!! EDIT referring to the rat rods
I only took a few others. It kinda pains me to see what some people do to some cars for attention. Reminds me of the John Hiatt tune "smashing a perfectly good guitar". Hence, I rarely shoot Rat Pix. Not to dis a good Rat rod (oxymoron?) as some can be done with flair but some scare me to think they are on the same road with me.
This belongs to Bill Akin, the Indy car guru and restorer. Indy twin cam V8 with the heads flopped to run the exhaust out the bottom. Lots of hand made pieces on this one. He's had it like this for years.
Really enjoyed the show its the first year ive been. There were a ton of cars that went waaay past the "rat rod" stage and went to just pure worthless junk and the show was also pretty unorganized but all in all it was a good time and we will most likely go back next year.
I was not able to make it because I am working. I want to go next year, Is there camping and a swap meet.
Yes there is. You can actually camp right behind your hot rod complete with hook ups. Its really nice. And man is there a swap meet! Its as big as the car show. Its all a bit unorganized but still a good time
The 61 pontiac wagon was one of my favorites. That was a really nice car. Alot cool traditional cars and of course there some that you needed a tetinus shot as you walked by. Some people will try to make anything into a hot rod.
