Did you get rid of the grille teeth to smooth it out or is it really a 51?

Yup, '51 grille. It was in there when I got it.

    Thanks!

Thanks! Just some self etching primer on the wheels now, gonna paint them body color when I repaint the car.

    It's got a 350 and a 4 speed

  5. Saw this car for the first time last night at a little get together at Doug Walker's Joe Smith Early Ford in Richmond. What a sweetheart of a ride. Very nice, Dan, very nice job. But somehow it ain't fair that you have this Chevy AND the shoebox Ford. Somehow just ain't right....:D:D:D

Thanks again everybody! I've been real busy lately and haven't had time to work on it. I'll get some updates posted once I get around to the bodywork.

I've been to busy driving the damn thing...lol :D

I've put around 2,500 miles on it including a trip to Maxton, NC. Winters coming though, time to get started on re-do phase 2!

Got too busy driving the Chevy to start on phase 2 but the time has come! It was suppose to be my quick winter project and be back on the road for spring

I got to taking a few things apart and decided to do a little more, then a little more...you know how it goes

    On with the progress pics!

    Rusty hood corner...

    Shaved the hood emblem...

Smoothed out the regulator mount cover thing...

Fixed some broken/missing tabs on the grille supports...

Made a new upper brace for the grille. Original one on top, new one on bottom. I put all the original details back in it, I don't know why

I can't find the before pic for the parking light housing, but it had a number of rust holes in it. Here's a couple pics after I polished the bare metal to make sure all the flaws were gone. I got lucky and found the opposite side grille piece through a want ad here that didn't need any work.

Passenger side inner fender was all beat up...

Filled a bunch of holes in the inner fender as well...

The front filler panel needed a little love as well. I eliminated the fresh air tubes as I plan on putting A/C in it (Pansy, I know :D)

Made a new trans tunnel cover to replace the aluminum roof flashing piece the previous owner had in there...

I don't know where all the holes in the firewall came from but I filled them all in. Cleaned up the hacked on body support and took the butchered firewall stiffening ribs off...

Replaced the rusted out and bondo filled rocker on the driver side...

Here's the bottom of the driver side door....ugh...

It's still in progress, needs some more hammer and dolly action...

Of course the bottom was crap too...oh joy!

New piece made for the bottom, gave me a little trouble (understatement) to get it bent right...

    Ready to trim and fit...

Put in a new aluminum radiator, new fan, and built a fan shroud for it. Put a piece of 1/4" round rod around it for a little nicer edge...

Put on a pair of Sanderson headers (ouch!) and made some new motor mounts. Rounded the edges...
