Ford held custom car and hot rod shows in their Rotunda building in 1955 and 1956, which I've shared a bit about before. Here's some silent footage from that very first show in '55, which was sponsored by the Michigan Hot Rod ***ociation. Reel of the Week: 1955 Car Show in the Ford Rotunda

I was on a school bus trip to the Ford headquarters in 1963 (I think) when a fire broke out and the building suffered a major fire. As I remember there was a Christmas display inside that caught fire. We had to evacuate the building.
We were taken across the road to the employee cafeteria and served lunch as we watched out the window at the fire department working the fire.
I graduated high school in 1964 John Adams High School in South Bend Indiana as I recall it was our senior trip to the Ford Museum and headquarters. We were going to go to an ***embly plant. unfortunately, our bus go caught up in the fire hoses and equipment, so we got delayed hours and never finished our trip.

My late mom cried like a baby when the Rotunda burned. We could see the glow of the fire from our house. I remember the Christmas shows there but little else. I think I was 5 or 6 when it went away.
