Registering Without a Title

    The idea here is to show - officially - that you've made every reasonable attempt to contact the previous owner and were unsuccessful. Having the unopened registered letter returned is going to prove that the previous owner isn't 'responding' at that address as of a given date.

    Personally, I'd never buy a ***le-less car again. It took me well over 2 months to get it all sorted out. Calling the MTO 6 times I was told how to proceed 7 different ways, all of them contradicted each other. Even though I know how to do it now (or I knew how to 3 years ago when I did it)... I would never do it again. Too much of a h***le!

    It really couldn't be easier in the state of Kansas...I prefer cars without ***les, or at least without current active ones. As long as you have the proper State of KS antique BOS / Transfer of ownership form, and the car is at least 35 years old, you'll have a ***le in your name in less than 2 weeks....but you're not in KS, so check it out with your DMV, or county Treasurer, or wherever it is that you get you tags.
