    Steering Boxes
    Cross Steering or Traditional
Which steering box and steering type do you prefer. Dont leave out modern boxes Vega etc.
Ease of steering, staright line and reliability are what this is about.

  2. I'm using a VW bus box, works great. Effortless and straight steering.

    Less caster, that's what I like.:D

a million years ago someone wondered what to set the caster at. He looked it up. the specs are 4.5 to 9. hmmmn he said , "halfway is 6.75, so lets do 7".

    and there you have it.

Ask the caster question on any board and one million experts will say 7. They don't even want to know how heavy the car is, what weight bias is on the front, steering box ratio, what the wheel offset is, or tire type or sizes, pressures. Still 7?, yep, 7

ok, calm downed now:p My best steering one is a 40 ford coupe with stock cross steering, with a very heavy early Olds Rocket. The caster is at the light end, and steers easy and smooth at dead stop, better than most cars going down the road..
