Hi Guys; The battery in my '41 truck is under the seat in the cab, and I don't really like that. I'd like to put it under the hood on the firewall, but don't have room for a group 24. Anyone have any experience with the Braille carbon fiber battery?
I have it on the firewall on my '47 - not sure I like it there either. It is (I'm pretty sure) a full sized battery. I am gonna look into going to a slightly smaller one - I know I don't want it in the bed (no offense), but I'm a little at a loss to find a better place - still looking things over.
How about one of the drop down frame mount units? I have seen them mounted to the outside of the frame in the front rear fender area. Just behind a gravel shield.
I had a couple of friends who had that model of truck and there isn't a lot of room on the firewall to stick a battery and it looks pretty junky when you do. I don't like the battery under the floor in my 48 and I am pretty sure that I am going to put it in what will look like a toolbox at the front of the bed. Wood or painted metal but not one of those modern polished diamond plate things. Battery on one side in it's own compartment and room for a jack and tools on the other side. That would be easier to deal with than having it under the seat or floor and the engine compartment would look a lot cleaner. Plus you could put a cutoff switch inside the box and shut all the power off if you wanted to.
Thanks for all the input. All good ideas, I think I'm going to at least investigate the frame mount. Anybody have a pic of one installed?
