Didn't these guys build a drag car about the same time as the 'hemi under glass' and put the body on backwards so it looked like the car was running in reverse? I thnk it was a barracuda or similar fastback body.

    Cheers, Glen.

I had a great collection of CARtoons that I stored at my fathers house. He had a little flood and about the only thing that was ruined was my box of Mags. Damn!!

  16. When I got rid of my magazine collection only Cartoons and the Street Rodder and newer collections remain, such as CKD and OS, and of course The Rodders Journal.
But none are as valuable to me as the early "kid" mags as Cartoons.

I was raised on those things. I always dreamed of drawing for them as a regular feature. Unfortunately, by the time I got good enough, they were long gone. George Trosley is trying to get someone to revive it, but I don't know if the market is out there. I know that WE would all buy it, but that's probably not enough for Petersen or Paisano or one of those guys to dole out the cash to get it started. I sent Trosley some art a while back and he said that if he can get someone to publish it, he'd like to have me involved. Keep your fingers crossed!

Maynard G. Krebs finally got his act together in the late 1960s after a tour in Vietnam. He came home and attended Harvard Business School on the G.I. Bill, earning his M.B.A. (summa cum laude) and going immediately to work on Wall Street. His star rose rapidly and he was earning over one million annually in salary and bonuses by 1980. He took time off to earn his Law degree from Yale and returned to Wall Street as a senior broker at a prestigious brokerage firm. He cashed-out of the stock market two days before the 1987 "Black Monday" crash and retired to Martha's Vinyard, building a 25-million dollar mansion on five oceanfront acres. He has since sold his estate and moved to an island in the Caribbean but retains a board of directors seat on several Fortune 50 companies and has advised several presidential administrations on tax and fiscal policy and also assisited in the recent government bail-out of several prestigious Wall Street banks as well as A.I.G.

He drives a BMW M6 coupe with the New York vanity plate ILUVBUX .

    (Just a guess! :D)

In the old Cartoons mag... What was the name of the farmer that had blown hemis in all of his equipment? I would love to see a posting of that old strip.

  24. Usta read em all the time. Cycletoons too. Lotsa good idea in those magazines and great artwork. I tried to get some cartoon published way back. No luck but they sent me some examples of what they looked for. Orignal art work and tips. Still have them.
