BTW, Joe....I was having a little epiphany regarding your setup.... I'm a little cautious about the bones wanting to spread apart on spring compression, as are some of the other guys here. Why not run a rod across between the 'bones [close to the shackle mounts] having spherical rod ends on either end, so the 'bones can work independently of each other. That should tie the bones together. You could even attach the new rod to the shackles or their mounts....whaddya think?

I dunno if someone already brought this up, (Didn't see it in other posts) but it seems to me that with a spring in the traditional location, the spring rate is gonna go up as the spring flattens out. With the upside down spring it's gonna go down as the spring bends further.

  5. I have to admit, there isn't a hell of alot of progress on the HooDoo Witch. Between all the car shows, the H.A.M.B. Drags and the ****ty economy, I haven't had time or money to get very far. I've decided to keep my place, here in Cable, and have some prospects for some $$$ coming my way, soon, so I'm gonna try to get it on the road by spring(no pun intended).

I'm having some sleeves machined that I can weld into the bones. They'll be beveled so they'll accept a stock type spring perch. A weld at that point would be a breaking point, so I'd rather go this route. The bolt end of the perch will have to be cut down and re-threaded, as well, because I want to keep the sleeves as short as I can.
I'll keep you posted, though, and thanks for remembering... [IMG]

BTW... ATCH, did you bring this BTTT because of my "less than positive" view of UNKL IAN's dimple idea? It does seem a little hypocritical, doesn't it? If so, I'm not saying that isn't a good idea, but I think the result wouldn't be what's expected, and I'm not planning to see this thing go any faster than 175, anyway... [IMG]
