Well, it sold and the guy who bought it did this.... got this e-mail today, paraphrased; "Plan now is to put it back together in it "early 50's traditional look" with new "Red Paint" any suggestions on an appropriate red color for this car are welcome. The new owner wants it painted red. How many red 5-windows have you seen out there??? Just about every other one that I have seen. Hope we can find a suitable color?" my reply was; "Well, you asked; ) I would go with an odd shade of Red called, Robins egg blue, " sad day indeed pretty solid though
Well, to look at the bright side...at least he's building it and not stashing it away somewhere to sit and collect dust in some makeshift backyard museum till he croaks or something! He seems excited and motivated...good for him and the car!!!
Hey, Hotroddrummer, that is a really nice looking red car you have! I have 16 cars/trucks. The only red one is my '37 Chevy fire truck. And a Suburban I can't mention 'cuz it is too new. I do like red, though, a lot. I agree, it is good he's jumping right into it and doing something. I'd ratheer have a red belly ****on car than a wonderfully odd jewel sitting, getting dusty, unused and undrivalble, and mostly forgotten. Sorta like my '41 Caddy limo/472.
it's more of a orange/red ....painted in 1969 ANd really the car was just about driveable as it was....
At least he didn't ask where he could find some of those nice shiney 22" wheels with matching taillights and grey tweed seats
Ugh...this really pains me to see this....the guy could have bought any old deuce coupe but he had to take out another survivor. I would think that by now people would realize that survivors get ten times the attention a shiny perfect car does. A survivor really sparks peoples imaginations of what it was really like and what type of person built the car. The guy destroys an honest to god 50's hot rod to build a new early 50's traditional looking car?! Thats just pure insanity to me! It almost makes MORE sense to build a billet-mobile! Theres only so many left...and I guess theres one less. Sorry, a bit dramatic but its my 2 cents. Johnny
Well I'm not sure on the topic other than what's a good traditional shade of red. I'd vote for a Ford commercial color once called Rangoon Red. It may have been offered on some cars as well. Not too bright, not too orange, no real "blue" to it like newer reds. At least it won't be another Viper red hot rod. As for the "whys" and "hows", seems to me since it's his car who cares what he does with it. If it was mine I'd certainly make it my way. Survivor? As if it's the only one or what? Sure see plenty of em around. I'm thinkin as Hank once said, ...the sun never sets on a Ford. If you have the resources you too can own a Duece 5W tomorrow.
Have to agree with Roadstar, the body on that car is truely awesome. Now that would be one you might have second thoughts on if your intention was to chop it. On second thought, whack away, it's just metal and the next guy can pay someone to "restore" it. Frank
