I know this isn't usual HAMB Posting, But I was browsing the web and ran across some old friends I used to enjoy! I grew up watching my dad build and race stock cars and he was always showing me Roth Monsters or drawings and cartoons he had enjoyed when he was younger and my Grandpa invented some wild things and they were Machinist and knew all about it. I would sit there and try to draw things and make things and made the most awesome BMX bikes ever ( we used to race at our local BMX track with Super Soakers mounted and water balloon grenades) Anywho I was looking at the Friday art show and wondered if anyone shared the same Wacky influences in their art or Projects as I have?

That was my favorite cartoon (after Bugs Bunny) when I was growing up. Gotta love the Slag Brothers.

  13. Boomerang runs them at several air times, actually.

There were a couple of spinoff shows, too, Dick Dastardly got his own show, Penelope got her own show, and then there was another version of the Wacky Races later on that had more traditional Hanna Barberra characters - Yogi, Hucklberry Hound, etc. -

What about Tom Slick! "In the thunderbolt grease slapper when he's on your tail!"

  15. My 4 and 5 yr old love watching this on Boomerang. My son likes to bild Lego versions of the wacky racers. The Anthill Mob is my personal favorite.

Anyone remember other "motorized" catroons? What was the one with the talking dune buggy "Speedy" might have been his name?

I believe that was Speed Buggy, and my Son and I watch Wacky Races and ThePerils of Penelope Pitstop every weekend. It blew him away when he said "Dad this is a new one" and my response was "This is an old one Daddy watched it when he was your age"

There is also the one with the Motorcycle the name escapes me right now were a nerdy guy drives a beat up old minbilke that turns into a motorcycle

Apparently there is still a big following for the Wacky Racers. Nintendo has a Wacky Racers game out for the Wii console. My Kids got it for me for Christmas!

Oh yea, that was me too. Wacky Races! What about "Tom Slick"? The Tom Slick cartoon was part of three in 30 minutes: Super Chicken, George of the Jungle and Tom Slick. There was also a season where Tom & Jerry drove dragsters...

I was born in '62 and remember this stuff well. I can still hear the Tom Slick theme music in my head. Oh shit....the Banana Splits theme music just popped into my head....

I remember Wacky Races plastic toy cars coming in boxes of cereal--Chex, I think. 1969-70. I was in 1st grade.

Oh shit...here comes the Super Chicken theme music....
