I was told by the people i got it from(a parts store that closed after 86 years)it was to re magnetize magnetos.
I'm hoping the brain trust will let me know if i'm wrong

I learned to weld with one of these in the early 60's. It did anything I needed to do back then....Now I'm spoiled with a nice modern MIG
