    Hello,

Thank you for your nice comments on my old story. We did have fun exploring that old house as it was our first real house after living in a small 25 foot long trailer for two years. Ha! But, you mentioned a Lionel Train set. One Christmas I actually got a set and I was so happy. It was a circular oval track and the cars looked so real. We lived about a half block away from the railroad berm/track that ran from the L.A. Harbor/Terminal Island/Long Beach harbor area past our backyard and into Los Angeles.

It was also our first seating for watching the race cars at nearby Lion’s Dragstrip. The railroad tracks were the best free seating to be able to watch the racers zip by including the sounds. But, they were actually blurs as they zipped to the end of the dragstrip. Then we got brave enough to watch out for the farmer to finish his plowing and walk across the dirt field to the edge of the track. As long as we stayed in the dirt, the security patrols at Lion's Dragstrip could not shoo us off of their property.

But the little Lionel Train set was so real, I was in a fantasy world the whole time I was playing with the set. Sometimes all day until the transformer got too hot. As happy as I was, the Lionel Train set also gave me a memory that I did not like. Our family had a stainless steel, shiny frame, floor stand for our big aquarium. I can not blame anyone other than myself because our parents got the fish tank at my request, since I loved fish of all kinds.

The living room was small anyway, but the tank took up one wall near the door. So, happily playing with my new Lionel Train set, I was oblivious to all surroundings and moved around as the train moved. My heel hit the sharp edge of the stainless steel frame and made a slice I had never seen before. I bled all over the rug and wooden floor, until my mom came over with a clean cloth to stop the bleeding. The frame was no longer stainless...

Luckily, our dad was in the other room and instantly, he took me to the family doctor’s office. I had s***ches on my heel and could not walk comfortably for several weeks. All fingers pointed to the dangerous sharp edges of the stainless steel frame. But not for a fast moving kid deeply involved in his world of play…YRMV

Doing a low-key thing this year. No tree for the 1st time in 40 years, I was going to do outside lights last Saturday but was out looking for kittens for my girlfriend. (We did find a pair a few days ago.)

My youngest son called me yesterday, not feeling well and tested + for covid. My oldest son will be over early and will be by later with his girlfriend for dinner. I'm making baked ziti and a salad.

My girlfriend's ex is in a bad way with cancer, so I may see her later today or Tuesday, we pick up the kittens on Wednesday. She had out of state guests that leave later today. Outside of that I have some house cleaning to do, make the ziti, finish wrapping a few things.

You were lucky to find kittens around Christmas. When my sister was looking several years ago the vet told her that cats rarely breed in the late fall early winter. But come spring the pound will be full with kittens. Time for a quick PSA message about spay and neutering your pets. Now back to the topic at hand.

These 2 are 12 weeks old, fixed, have most of their shots. These were surrendered, possibly out of hoard situation.

Best present you could have given, or got. My wife and I have been foster cat parents for 3 years now.
Love it when a pair gets to go to their forever home. Just found two great homes for our latest buddies,
Moe and Molly. Tremendous need out there, for sure. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
    Blessings to all. Bob

Everyone loves them, they are busy exploring the large house, which belongs to them. I got them collars and name tags yesterday, they go to the vet on the 9th.

I had fostered years ago, always didn't like to give the little ones up. I get attached to them. The one I have now is a feral rescue we got at 6 weeks old. He is 7 going on 8 years old.

Yep, the hardest part is when they go to their forever home. We still get updates and pictures from many
of our adoptee parents. Our last two were considered "frail", and the shelter that they were staying at
was about to euthanize them, so of course it was a no brainer to help them to a better life. It is amazing
what a little tenderness and love can do. Give 'em lots of hugs, nose kisses and petting.
