If you live in BFE like I do, you've killed a few critters in your vehicle before, but these are the months that the "bad dudes" invade your rides. Even as daily drivers, it doesn't take but a few hours for something to creep inside.

I was given a reminder of this just earlier this morning. THIS IS A DAILY DRIVER.

Be sure to check your ass before you get your ass checked by something. It's that time of the year.

on a serious note the brown recluse are a problem round here in indy. and for some reason i have bugs that look like they could eat a small dog out behind the garage.....either that or the fumes from the pipes make em look bigger.....

I torched a widow last night. Every so often I go on a hunt. They show up real well with a flashlight at night. Then my handy bar-b-q lighter and can of either come into play. One quick "poof" then hit the floor burnt.

I'm good with bees and wasps and hornets. I mean, I hate them, but I'm ok with them. I'm not good with widows and recluse spiders.

  10. I don't think we have those up here in Northern Wisconsin... but the spiders I do have all seem to want to live in my welding helmet.

Also, just a few nights ago I was in the shop and heard a thump on the door. I thought someone was there so I opened it. Big-ass black bear...! I mean like 5 feet away.
I had taken a vanilla "tree" air freshener out of my wagon and hung it by the light switch in the shop. That proved to be a pretty dumb idea.

  13. Makes me glad the worst problem I've had is a robin's nest in my storage van (that the birds seemed to have abandoned, guess I'll find out tomorrow).

Holy crap. . . that is one hell of a critter. I'll keep my packrats, you keep the bears.

  16. My father once lost control of his car and ran up an embankment because a cat that had jumped in the car and gone to sleep in the back floorboard suddenly decided to wake up and leap up onto his head. Dad didn't know the cat was in the car. Dad was known for keeping his hearing aids in his shirt pocket in case he wanted to hear something.

Lately it seems like any time I have the lights on in the garage, it only takes a few minutes for the place to fill up with red wasps. Don't even have to look, I can hear them bouncing off the bulbs, dink....dink dink.

Think a dryer sheet or two might help?

Tape ends shut of all brake/gas line tubing before storing as small insects will crawl inside open ends and nest if left hanging on wall or sitting on workbench. Blow out tubing with compressed air before installing on vehicle.

Worst critter problem I ever had. We had several snakes (as pets) and had gone to the pet store to buy about 20 mice for feeders. I usually brought a small cage to bring them home, but just happened to be driving buy and needed some. They put them all in paper grocery bags, double bagged. I made my wife hold the bag while I drove.

Now understand, my wife is not fond of snakes, but she is deathly afraid of mice. Well about 1/2 way home, one of the mice had chewed through both bags and started poking his head out. She throws the bag in my lap, I'm trying to drive and stop them from getting out.

    EPIC FAILURE!!!!!!!!!

Withing 2 minutes, all 20 mice are out of the bag and are EVERYWHERE inside the car. Most are under the seats, some are on my lap, climbing the steering wheel, on the dash, etc.

My wife is screaming for me to pull over. I don't want her opening the door because if they get out, I just lost like $40 or so. So I drive the rest of the way home, mice everywhere, wife kicking and screaming, and people definately watching her freak out in the car.

We get home, she bolts out of the car, I'm now chasing them around the yard,,,,,,, I think it was only a month or so before she started talking to me again. At least the snakes love me.

Whenever I break out the grinder I always look inside my ear muffs/hearing protection. The thought of a spider being in there when I put it on... and crawling into my ear... Damn!!

I check inside my work boots (which I keep in the garage) before I put 'em on too. You never know what'll curl up inside for a nap.

  25. Ok wait a sec, " I said pull the car over I will climb out of the window and walk home" All the future visits to the pet store required a cooler or cage to bring them home in.But I Love you ,it wasn't your fault they ate through the bags.

  26. I read every post and not one ''watch out for crabs in the back seat'',I am very disaponted in all of you!

  27. Makes me thank god every day in the shop that I am in WI where we have nothing but the weather to complain about. :) And I don't complain about the weather.....keeps all the critters out of the state.

I HATE bugs, any kind of bug. I'd rather have a rabid Pit Bull charge me than have to deal with spiders or roaches............they are disgusting. While we are on the subject why do pest control commercials always come on at dinner time?!?!? How am I supposed to eat when the clown on the TV is talking about roaches??? It's enough to make you puke.

  29. Last week I saw a mountain lion in the yard, only about 30 feet from the house. The conservation dept. says we don't have those here. I wish I had my camera, I did take picture of the paw prints though. We have ticks, wasps, mud dobers, snakes, spiders, lizards, and more different kinds of bugs than I can remember. Oh, and months the size of birds. Last weekend a Buzzard landed about 20 feet from me, and watched as I mowed the lawn for a few hours. I had a mud dober starting to build a nest in the gloves to my bead blaster. I now pull the gloves out when I'm done using it. Gotta love Missouri.

CLIFFY, I kinda think Paul Bunyon took care of the bigger critters in your state of Wisconsin!
