Critters can be tough on things!

We had a guy in the shop leave the p***enger window half down on a 58' Kenworth; needless to say the mother Ra**** made a nest in the truck. She tore allthe black tuck in roll out of the interior to make the nest for her new babies!
Basically started a 10 year restoration process that hopefully is completed this year.

I live in NY and have seen a mountain lion behind my shop, and my neighbors have too. But the state forest rangers said the same thing "we dont have those here" Rumor is that they let them loose around here to control the coyote population.

as far as critters and cars goes, I was looking under the hood of one of my parts cars and as im standing there with both hands above my head holding the hood, and me leaning into take a look at the motor, i hear this rustling noise. I look up to see a big *** snake staring me right in the face, it was hanging off the brace on the hood. Tongue out and everything. Needless to say i closed the hood and walked away.

Cat piss is the most destructive element on the planet..I gave a truck away one time because a cat had crawled in through a vent window during a thunderstorm and pissed everywhere, couldn't drive that truck without gagging...found a rattlesnake curled up in a tree stump about ten feet from my car the other day...

AMEN. I park my daily at a storage unit where I park my work truck. There are a bunch of stray cats living in a 62 caddy convertible right next to where I park there that like to piss down the fresh air inlet for my a/c. NOT FUN.

I hate ticks...sometimes I find a lot walking my dane. The last project I pulled home was infested with ticks and ants which didn't help. Those things make my skin crawl!

This state ment is very true. We have a Harley servi car that was repainted and left un***embled by the previous owner... well a cat pissed all over the wrapped up tanks (white paint) and ruined the paint

however most old cars i have dealt with are infested with the odor of cat piss so at this point it does not bother me that much because the alternative is usually chewed up wiring from mice. Also if you get one of them three packs of black chery airfreshners and open all three in a regular cab 70s ford it will take care of the cat piss problem in minutes so for a car, get two.

  10. I was bitten by a Black Widow about 4 years ago now. My arm swelled up about 3 times the normal size and that was the most pain I have ever been in ever for about 2 weeks. I have broken my wrist, both clavicles(collar bones), I laugh when I get slag burns from welding/torching, and have had a other painful injuries. Take caution fellas and gals, kill them mother****en spiders with Malathion or Diazinon-illegal in Calimexico. Oh and the medical bills were $$$$$ more then alot of Malathion. Just my .02.-Weeks

Man...the Chieftain has got a lot of spiders hiding out in nooks and crannies after sitting still for a couple months...you should see them ****ter when I start it up and drive around the block.

The last trip around the block was three weeks ago before the bike accident, in that time the webs going from the frame to the concrete driveway surface looked like some kinda 50's car show setup with about half the angel hair used...For some reason, this part of town has an over abundance of Black Widows, "Fiddle Back" Recluses, and Scorpions. There's even some kinda spider that LOOKS like a black widow but instead has this wierd pattern of red dots that run like a racing stripe along both the top and bottom of it's abdomen. I don't mind spiders that much, unless they sneak down from the ceiling along their strand o' stench...and I wake up with spider parts in my teeth.

Then, there's this flying insect that looks every bit like an "******in Beetle," but most I have seen are completely black. Supposedly, they are considered harmless to humans, but when armed with their toxin and bacteria coctail and ability to bite, I'd say they're not exactly harmless, especially when they land on you while you're lying under a 5000 pound car with only inches to move.

Oh yeah...at first thought, it might seem fun to blow a red wasp/hornet/etc away with an air blower, but they get really pissed off really quick, and you'll find out equally as quick that they can put up a good fight even at 120 psi...do NOT let off the air if they are fighting against it in your general direction...they will hit you like they were shot out of a wrist rocket...it IS fun to tell someone to try it though, hahahaha![IMG]

Lucky Man.. too bad St. Patrick wasn't ther to chase the venemous things from oregon as well as Ireland..I was on a hike in the back-woods here in southern oregon about 13 years ago(I and my friend were thirteen) and had to stare down and back away from a mamma Cougar protecting her young.. I am not ashamed to say i almost pissed myself... the black widows in my shop don't bother me much anymore after that...

That looks a lot like the baboon spiders we get over here. I also had one on a sun visor once, while driving.

Of course we've got actual baboons, too, but they tend to stick to the mountainous areas. But they'll try to break into anything. There's nothing they love more than getting hold of loose trim and pulling ...

We get a lot of them in our house. They're harmless but scare the **** out of you when you're not expecting them.

I wasn't expecting the one that wandered down on the inside of my welding mask while I was welding about 6 months ago. I had to remove the mask in a controlled but brisk fashion.

Tiger snakes are probably the biggest issue here. And redback spiders (black widow with an Aussie accent), although they are fairly shy.

I can't tell you the number of times i've been tightly wedged under a car and looked to my right or left and had a scorpion trying to climb on my face. I few months ago i was cleaning up the shop with my shop vac. I saw some leather gloves that i had been missing tucked behind my extra argon cylinder. I couldn't get my hand back behind the cylinder so i used the vacuum nozzle to grab the first glove...then pulled it off the vacuum tip and grabbed the second glove....as i was reaching to pull the second glove off the tip of the vacuum something fell out of the glove onto the floor by my feet. It was a big fat black widow that i almost grabbed with my left hand.

  24. Man oh man, are they bad in eastern OK!! We went to Kansas Ok to see Mr Fowler several years ago about buying a Model A from him and when we got home, we knew from previous trips and stripped in the garage and took off 48 ticks between the two of us! Yuck!

Man...at my last house...in the course of a year I killed nearly 87 scorpions IN my house. I can't stand those ****ers. Made my life hell. Finally moved and just the other day I had my first encounter with a brown recluse and waged a battle with it trying to kill it for about an hour. He kept coming out of this hole in our utility room and then running back in. Eventually got his ***.

One time I was at work and saw this wasp flying around holding something. He kept flying real high up in our shop and eventually started dive bombing the ground and flying real crazy. Eventually he hit the ground dead and I walked over to see what he was holding and it was a black widow. Somehow they engaged in a scuffle and were locked onto each other and the spider won. Caught the spider in a container and kept it for a few days then someone threw it away.

^^scorpions in your home, yikes. I'm glad they are scarce around here. Snakes, scorpions, etc... are not a major worry inside the cars here, just spiders.

Went to put on a welding glove once and had a huge wolf spider (harmless but hairy and big) run up my arm. I have always checked since.

wow i dont think i will ever move to another part of the country i don't have to worry about anything dangerous here that i know of except terrorist but i have an m4-a1 for that

  29. I think I will continue to put up with the ****ty winters here! We have some brown recluses, but not many and wasps and stuff, but wow, seems like where the good sheet metal comes from you guys have all kinds of deadly **** crawling around.

I saw a dead black widow in a bunch of bananas once and north of here you can find rattle snakes and bears, but the scariest encounter I had was with a moose who was "confused" during the rut season. I bigger male had chased him out of the woods and he fell off a rise onto the path my wife and dog and I were hiking on. Ever stare down 1200 lbs. of ***** beast at about 20 paces? Not sure but I think my wife peed herself and the dog just stopped dead in his tracks. Bullwinkle turned around after a couple of minutes and ran away.

I would take that over one of those big forking spiders any day!

I've been waging war with the mice this year. They love to pull the stuffing out of the seats and leave little poo presents in the glove boxes of the cars.

Had to terminate a snake out the shed the other week too. Went to pull the tractor out and he was hanging from the rafters eyeing me up.

Tack on the deer ticks and cyotoes, and this side of Virgina is alot of fun. My (one) neighbor swares we have a black bear running around but I've not seen it yet.
