Removable hardtop

    Installed the removable hardtop today. Still indecisive about the front draw fasteners. Got some HD suitcase br*** latches today at Orchard Hardware. They just may work. Got to first attach a oak header to the 'glas roof. Also, need to glue some EPDM 1/8" x 2" rubber tape down to the body, to let the top rest on it.

    Porsche in the late 50's and early 60's used a draw fastener like this to secure the top.

    sort of like a suitcase latch or toolbox latch i believe. they are available from McMaster-Carr and other hardware sources in many styles and materials. beats heck out of a bolt sticking through the header bar... my O/T Spitfire had a steel hardtop that used similar hardware to hold it on.

    Its the car on the left. It's registered in Calif as a 1936 "Special Construction." That and that only. Has a 302, AOD, fORD 8" NODULAR 4 link rear susp, Mustg II pwr rack and pinion, pwr disc brakes, Rebel 9+3 Hot Rod wire harness, etc.
