As most people know that early Ford Drums are staked at the studs and can be difficult to remove without hole sawing around the studs. Flip the hubs upside down and clamp to drill press or mill. Take a 3/4" drill and center on back of stud. Drill down just far enough to cut thru drum. Then take a hammer and punch and drive the stud from the back. You will need new studs, but good idea anyway. see photos.
To those of us that are DEEP into the traditional stuff, we have to fight the dis***embly process to use the early Ford goodies. It's a rare occasion when pieces come apart without a fight. Thanks, another tip for the mental file.
That's a great idea. I just had to cut the brake drums off on the 46 parts car I stripped down. They were totally frozen on the shoes, but I want to save the hubs. I was going to cut the studs off with a hole saw, but this looks better. Don
