Im trying to get the starter off my chevy deluxe. i removed the bottom bolt with no trouble. I cant get around the top bolt and maintain any room for turning. The solinoid is still attached. Have tried channel locks, standard wrench, and socket. all to large to move. Im either hitting the engine block or the wall. Any help would be huge. Thanks

maybe try a swivel socket or a long extention there should be enough room to turn it then

A lot of guys bend a wrench just for this reason. It can be maddening to get that top bolt out! I have used the open end on a wrench. Still it takes tiny moves to get the bolt to turn.
