Can anyone help with an issue I'm having. I recently purchased an idler arm pivot pin repair kit from chevsofthe40s for my 1 Chevy Fleetline. I successfully removed the pin from the old idler arm but I'm having issues getting the bottom and top caps off the housing. If anyone can help I'd sure appreciate it.
caps are threaded ---right?--- and yes it comes apart easy ---you may be fighting some old, hard grease...
How the heck did you get the pin out??? The shop manual says to just "knock it out". Yeah, right! I slowly grinded a tiny bit of the opposite side of where the pin hole is, thinking maybe there was another hole was spot weld to secure the pin. no luck! I see this posting is actually earlier this year, any luck? help.......
drill a hole in one of the end caps so you can fit a punch threw it. Then drive the pin and cap on the other end out, then knock the first cap out.Your replacement kit should have new caps. Pin should not be very tight at all . New bushing will have to be pressed in and reamed/honed to fit.
