i bought a 1954 chevy and the PO didnt ever lock the car due to no keys.

my question is how do i remove the lock cylinder from the door handle?

i like my car and would like it to stay in my possesion.

    thanks in advance.

It may be easier to remove the ignition switch or the trunk lock and bring it to a locksmith. Them guys can make you a key if they have a lock to work with.

All the locks should be the same key. If they are original.

look on the door face where the latch is. At the highth of the lock cylinder is there a clip or a small hole there near the outer door face? If clip pull it to release the lock cylinder, if a hole there will be a set screw in there loosen that to release the cylinder. A putty knife or 2 will pull the cylinder out enough to get a hold of it once you get whatever retainer loose/removed.

i have removed the door handel by pulling the clip and then just taken the whole thing to the locksmith.

    he said no problem.

dopey PO had no keys or trunk lock at all. just hop in and turn the ignition with out the key....hmmmm no the most secure car in the city. screw driver fro the trunk. he owned it for five years and drove it every where like this.

i however am a paranoied person and like to so my stuff where i left it. i have all new stuff just need the doors to work and i am AOK.
