Technical Removing lock cylinder from column drop

    Is the pin holding the lock cylinder simply a pin or is it a threaded screw with a break away head, like the column drop clamp bolt? When I rebuilt my column, I drilled into the clamp bolt and used an easy out to remove it, no problem. Just interested in knowing about the lock cylinder pin, as I've never seen any info on the correct way to remove it.

    It is a smooth pin. There are two sizes, one 1932 to about 1936 (I do not have parts book handy to say that authoritatively) the other, bigger one up to 1948.
    Earlier one is small and has a slight head over the longer part of pin, late is a simple short fat piece of rod.
    Ford sold replacement pins of both types, so they intended for you to kill the little bastard and put in a new one.
    With the thicker one, a small hole ans easy out, or perhaps small hole and tap it. Then you can put it back in and fill the small hole with putty and paint over it...modification thus out of sight and easily reusable.
    You can also tap the original hole that held the pin and replace it with an allen head set screw, again disguising it even though it is unlikely to ever meet anyone who knows what it is.
    Somewhere around here I have a NOS one of each just for working purposes, but I don't know where they are!
    Somewhere in between pieces of wire too short to save and worn out socks...
