Hey guys I scored an intake recently thats been powdercoated but its ratty. How do we get the powder coat off? Sandlblasting, dipping? Anyone? Rat
Take it to a powdercoaters - they often have to get this stuff off when it becomes scratched or damaged so that they can recoat it. The powdercoaters I use have an acid bath but they also media blast.
bake it off. don't go above about 450-475. DO NOT use the oven in the house,or the 'missus will kill you! Fahrenheit,that is.
Aircraft paint remover will take it off....... Just put it on wrap it in plastic (to keep it from drying out) and let it sit 1/2 hour or so should come right off MM64
I would say chem strip a little at home but finish with a good media blast if the thing looks ratty. are you just having it recoated?
I have already done this...go to Lowes or Home Depot and get that Jamco brand paint stripper. I believe the color of the can is gold and it will also take off epoxy paints. Strong stuff. Get the GEL kind. You just brush it on, wait a few seconds/minutes and it gets like goo. Get a lot of paper towels you can dispose of and smear it right off. Trust me, it works!
Hey guys thanx ....I wasnt aware that stripper would get it off. Its was powdercoated when I scored it. Ill give it a go and see how we go !!! Rat
