Hello everyone, Hopefully you can help out a newbie to the hamb. I ran a search for rain gutters but only found threads on repairing or making rain gutters. How would you go about removing them since they seem to be a seam. I'm actually removing them off a off road race truck. it's a Ford Bronco. So would I cut out small sections at a time and tack those in and keep going along until it's completely removed or is there a better way to handle this type of project? Hopefully you guys won't be offended that this isn't a hot rod rig but off road sites never address these types of sheet metal questions. Any pics would help. Thank you. Chris
Hey Chris, I'd use a cut-off disc, and just cut the gutters flush with the roof panel sides. Be sure to cut out any rust, and replace any cut out metal , prior to welding up the area. Small tack welds a foot a part, than six inches, than three, than one, wil insure little warpage of the roof panel. Swankey Devils C.C. "Meanwhile, back aboard The Tainted Pork"
Make sure the area you are going to weld is clean. My Poncho had the gutters leaded on. That was a royal pain to fix.
Thanks guys for the advice. Any pics? I've already taken a wire wheel to the rain gutters and so far little to no rust.
