We lost another Renegade on April 7th, my father Jim Hurley passed away. Though he did not go the famous route that most people know as a custom car builder, my father took his passion into teaching, he taught student how to customize, never taking the credit. All the magazine and news paper articles always stated him as the teacher. for 37 years, there were custom cars and motorcycles running around southern california that had my fathers guiding hands behind their creation and never a peep from my father, he would take pride in his students at La Habra high school knowing that they could do it themselves. When he retired the students were the ones that suffered, it's an art that is slowly being lost. I grew up with the famous builders, I just did not know that they were famous, they were just my dads friends.

May the teacher rest in peace

  8. Sorry to hear this....

Just like all the High schools loosing their Auto Shops,it's gonna be a thing of the past soon.
Another reason why we need to talk to the older generation and appreciate and absorb their knowledge of our car hobby and keep it going. So many of the greats are leaving us.
