i dig carson city!

there are a few rodders around and a few faux rodders, too. you should have no trouble finding someone that would want to help out. the population of bonneville racers in carson city and the carson valley (just a bit south of here) is increasing every year.

what flavor v8 is going in your model a?

I live in Reno, and I've been here my whole life.

But this summer... I will be moving to the 'promised land' west of the Sierras :p

There is absolutely NO good music following here in Reno, and that just don't work for me.. being a musician and all :D

That's great news and very encouraging, thanks! My little coupe is getting a plain ol' Chevy small block 'cause it checked all the boxes for power, reliability, period correctness, and parts availability. I'd much prefer a Hemi, but the budget simply isn't there. I just want to get it running and I'll go from there. It may get something more exotic down the road. :)

Completely understandable. Coming from Austin, I'm sure it'll be a heck of a culture shock regarding the music and night life!

Thanks, Dave! Yeah, I'd forgotten about Hot August Nights!

6. Dang I always have a blast when I go to the Reno/Tahoe area
Got married in Tahoe in 1980 when they blew up Harvey's and a boat jockey got killed trying to set the speed record on the lake ... whadda honeymoon.

My Uncle had a dude ranch kinda thing on the back side of Mt Rose at Joy Lake in the early sixties. He had a trained Brahama Bull that I used to ride.

Sister live in Fernly and got flooded when the dyke broke a few years ago ... then moved to Sparks ...

Damn, I love that whole area

Anything fun going on in the area over the weekend of April 21st? I'll be in town briefly for an interview and figured this would be the group to ask. :)

Hey TOMMY R Looks like Mother Nature is smilin on you
Due to inclement weather, Capital Classic Productions is moving the Carson Harley Davidson Show & Shine from April 14th, 2012 to April 21st, 2012. We at Capital Classic Productions put a lot of money into our events to insure our participants have a great time. We don’t want to have the event hampered by the bad weather and I’m sure you don’t want to drive your treasures in the rain. We like to put on the very best event possible. For those of you who have received previous emails and or letters from us, please note your calendar of the change to April 21st, 2012 and we hope to see you there in “sunshine.” Spread the word, there will be live music, DJ music, vendors, food and much, much more.

I understand that this could be an inconvenience for some, we apologize for this. In order for us to keep our prices down to $20/show, we have to be smart about the weather.
Mother Nature always wins

Very interesting! Is this just a bike/Harley show or will 4 wheeled stuff be there, too? I may try to stop by, but Saturday will be my only time to see the whole Carson area so I'll need to move fast if I want to check it all out. :(

Just got to Carson City this afternoon. Any of you fellas got a good pub or brewhouse to recommend for dinner and beer? High Sierra is on my list. Any good? Any others?

Hoping to pass by that car/bike show on Saturday, but does it cost anything to check it out? It's not $20 to get in, is it?

Well, we made it to the show, but we were there early and had to zip through very quickly. Only stayed for maybe 15 minutes. There was some good stuff there (between all the street rods) that I wanted to spend more time checking out, but I had other obligations last weekend....like finding a potential place to live! Wish I could've seen your ride, Dave, and gotten to meet you and Gary. Maybe next time?

Anyway, here's a couple pics I took...
