Need to know what you all recommend as in way of fuel take conversion for a ford falcon 1962 gas tank. I am in the process of installing the electronic fuel injection in the car and so far am going to need a exterior pump, larger outlet line and return inlet line and i would like to know what you recommend as in the way as modification or if there is a replacement tank that you can use in its place as far as swapping to a different fuel injection car gas tank.
    Thank you

you could use a new Spectra tank and have the required pickup mounting welded in from a donor tank before it ever sees any gasoline. the Spectra tank will be an exact fit for the car, no kludging required to make it fit. you may be able to use a Fox body tank sending unit flange and sender in it. i'm sure there's mustang retrofit tanks but they'll be too wide IIRC.
don't even waste the time finding an old tank to use; Rock Auto sells the Spectra tank for about 80bucks plus shipping.

if you're going to use an external pump, you could use the vent tube for the return line. I just re-read your post and caught that. no welding on the new tank. Spectra also sells a new sender, it would be fairly easy to modify it to match what you're looking for.

There's a thread here about a '64 Comet Caliente Convertible (sorry I don't have the link).

He mated the top (fuel outlet) of an Explorer tank to his Comet tank. Might work for you.

If you are going with an externally mounted pump you can take the return line back and put a T in the line between the tank and the pump and return there. I have seen this done and it works.
